Given that the charity element in the 94.7 is growing and growing I thought I'd start a thread to give and get ideas for raising money.

Me - I got a few companies to sponsor me R5/km for every km I ride in Movember (there is a cheque handover and ceremonial face shaving event at the end of the month).

I rode one lap in my racing cat and a second lap for "charity" and netted CANSA another R500 (R1,250 for the weekend).

I know Frail is also raising funds by raffling tickets and riding stupid amounts.

The CHOC guys - say no more.

Other ideas?

i have to admit i'm seriously reconsidering my "i'll never ride a big roadie event again" approach - i may just want to be a cow next year...

I am thinking about which charity to ride my first ever 94.7 for next year. Seems pointless to me to "just go ride it" as i sure as heck am not bothered about my time, and doing the charity thing makes it all the more worthwhile.

So far i am considering the Pink Drive or CLAW. Or both if that is allowed.

BGS - join the cows too - we can ride together and put big pink bows or something on our bikes to show support for PinkDrive too. i helped at the PinkDrive supporters truck ont he N14 this year - so next year was thinking of helping another charity

I fancy the Pink Drive as i have lost people to cancer, animals to cancer and know survivors too so i guess in a way its close to me. My aunt, who i love to bits, has recently just finished her chemo so im keen to tell her about this

I'm 100% COW!

I encourage people to see what's actually happened with past years money, CHOC house has been purchased and setup in Soweto so it's close to Bara for treatment. This years aim was to upgrade the Childrens Oncology facility at Bara, a public hospital where everybody gets to benefit, not just the elite.

I'm all for anybody supporting a charity, what touched me on the day was a guy riding in memory of his daughter who passed away, no idea from what etc.

On my 2nd lap, i got to chat to a couple other guys on the M1, they were raising funds to help keep under priviledged kids off the streets by giving them "activity" centres thru a Christian organisation.

All part of my reason for riding it twice, it's a real eye opener as opposed to just racing!
