Im looking at the majicshine 818(i think) its the triple one or the Blackburn X6 double unit.

the Blackburn claims 22o lumen s and the majicshine 1400 lumen s

Are these outputs accurate.

Donno but the blackberry one comes highly rated . But it also all depends on what you wanna do . For real night racing you gonna need the candle power but for farting around in the dark on one of our night rides a torch and ducktape will work fine .

The Magicshine is realistically probably a little lower. If you will use it often, consider two 900 Lumens (probably 700) Macicshines, as then you can have one on your bars and the other on your helmet. That is a great solution. I have friends that would love to trade their Sigma's and Blackburn's for Magicshines. If it's for a once off event, look at one 900 (700) Magicshine as they are good bang for buck. Horses for courses. My 3cw.

MS use a P7 LED that is rated at 900lum at 2.8Amps. With the batterypack of the MS and claimed runtime you will be lucky to get 550lum (ms808)and 700 for ms818

Also had a look at the Exposure DiabloMKII today.

but the issue is the shops all demo the light during the day and that doesn't give any idea of width or depth of the beam.

the Exposure is also rated at 700Lumens ...

now im really confused.

maybe i should just leave the nite riding alone

The Majicshine's are good value for money but they do not output what they claim (they are a cheap Chinese knock off of a Lupine Tesla). I looked at the 1400 (816) but it seems a bit bulky and also has a seperate switch to put on the bars so too much clutter for me. I would go 808 and if necessary get a second one for your helmet later on.

Obviously there are much better lights available, check out Brighter Lights - you pay for quality though

The DX versions were great value about 4 weeks back when the rand peaked, I then moved over from home-built to commercial light. The new battery pack with LCD voltage monitor looks the business (ducks & waits for B-L to comment), but I have not yet used it in anger.

Apart from the normal risks of buying Chinese products, just remember with DX additional issues and risks are postal delays (the longest wait I've had is 3 months), and that customs at JIMC tend to pull them at the airport because they are not shipped with a detailed waybill. So if you want a light for the upcoming 24hrs, they are not your option.
