Is there any other way to get your Polar HRM battery replaced properly, without having to send it to Polar or take it in person to the Polar agents?

My LBS will send it to Polar, with a 2 week wait......

I dropped mine off at Sportman's Warehouse in Cresta on the Saturday and got a phone call the next Friday saying it was done. Less then a week. I can't guarantee everybody will get that kind of service, but I was impressed.

From CT Sportsmans send it to Polar anyway. Worth the 2 week wait if you dont take shortcuts. They replace the seal etc.

That said, however, I'm going for Garmin now. The new Forerunner 410 is awesome and costs R2500 in the states

Most watch or jewelery shops can do it immediately, or you can simply do it yourself. Replaced my battery last week. Took 5 mins.

This will cancel your warantee though.

the problem with 'most jewelery' stores and the DIY route, is the lack of pressure testing to requalify the seal for the rated pressure. That's what tosses your warranty into the toilet.

Its worth the week wait. I gave mine to brooklyn totalsports. They send it on wednesdays to polar and receive it back the following wednesday. polar not only replaced my battery, but also my band, screen, and buttons. All for only R100! Great service. Take a week taper and do it. Just find out from the shop on what days they send and receive shipments to minimise waiting time.

I went to the Polar offices in Midrand. Not far from Allandale off ramp on the way to Kyalami.

They changed the battery while I waited.

If you live in Cape Town, the only way to get a one week turn-around, is to send it via Speed Post (generates a tracking number) from your local post office. Make sure you have it in on Monday morning and you should have it back by the Friday of the same week ... costs about R50. I've done that at least 20 times (sent mine, family and friends HRMs), without a problem.
