Da gama park

Zwaanswyk road

Price drive

The mast

Dunno what gradients required for interval training but these all got a good steep for cheap ratio

Lots of options, those are all good ones. So is Smits - not so much traffic, but also flattens out after the first section.

For hard intervals try the road up to Da Gama Park from the Main Road side. It is over 10% in places. Also try The Wall a bit further down (old navy road, part of the Cape Cobra route). Both of these are good for a tail wind when the South Easter is blowing.

Clan Stewart road up Glencairn Heights is also steep, wide and relatively traffic free. Also ride up Runciman Drive via Arsenal Way from the Main Road in Simonstown for short intervals.

Price drive looks interesting on google maps and is close by. Will check it out. Looks rather narrow. Have you had any problems on this road?

Depending on your interval time:

Southern Cross drive will also be close to you.

Price drive is steep!

Black Hill is wide and has a huge shoulder.

Slangkop from Kommetjie side

Red Hill is great and very quiet.

Zwaanswyk Road +1 for 4 min intervals - also wind free.

Price drive is killer steep.

The Wall is nearly 100% traffic free and super steep - around 20% at the top.

Price drive is fine traffic wise, on that note I avoid constantia nek going eastwards if at all possible.

The wall?is that the road past the scratch patch/dido valley.

The constantiaberg mast still wins for steep tar road climbing(ha ha)

Yep, The Mast is the ultimate peninsula hill climb if you're not limited to a road bike. I got my mtb in June and riding up there really helped me this winter / spring.

The Wall is the navy road used in the Cape Cobra, inbetween Da Gama Road and Red Hill. If you're doing the Cobra and haven't been up there you should definitely preview it before the race. It's a bumpy old concrete road on a blind hairpin off the main road. In the racing bunches there are often crashes as you turn on to it.

Blackhill from glencairn 8-10 min climb bothways to do it

Black Hill is a nice steady gradient, but be careful going up there at sunset (Autumn / Winter time I think) from the Glencairn side - the sun sets directly over the apex of the hill and there have been several accidents as a result.

And feel laaik I should do it at least twice more before the Jan race.

Smitswinkel Pass is lekka now - great road surfacing done there. Little traffic.

Ye, smits is much faster now on the top section. Watch out for the cross wind when you round the corner at the car park.

I'm sure your warning is meant for the fast descent towards S Town, eh, Luke?
