I have a Polar CS200 Speedo, and cannot get it to upload my training log to my Polar Pro5 training program. I use the Polar Usb IR dongle.

Any help?

Hi

I went to look at this model today and found it uses some sort of audio upload via the PC's microphone. I work with computers but that just seems dodgy to me.

I was going to buy this exact model but decided I should rather investigate how well the audio upload thing work. I guess you answered the question for me.

I found http://www.polarusa.com/us-en/support/downloads?product=&category=Logos&documenttitle=How+to+Download+Logos+to+Polar+CS100%2C+CS200+and+CS300+Cycling+Computers&document=/gip/PEUS1kb-public.nsf/web_cat/85256F470048B0BCC225743A003DFD0E

No hold on friend. The CS200 uses inra red. The CS300 uses SonicLink/WebLink. That is the sound thing you are talking about. The wife bought me the CS300 for christmas (ok so neither of us could wait till tomorrow) and SonicLink works well, thank you very much.

According to their docs it uses SonicLink?

"CS200: In Time mode, press the Right button until CONNECT is displayed. Press the Middle button and select Receive DATA. Place the cycling computer less than 10 cm/ 4" from the loudspeaker and do not move it during the data transfer."

Maybe there were different versions of the CS200?

Good to know the SonicLink works well because I was rather scared to purchase it :) I think I am going to go the CS200 route because it is like much much cheaper and if I choose to upgrade later on i can.

LOL yeah saw that and just thought nooit, how can they try and use audio capturing to send signals I mean BT is so stock standard there's no reason for their sonic transfer.

I would have maybe even bought it if it could take a USB cable, but that audio thing i dont trust.

Well I got my self an early Christmas present ;) reading around people claim it works well (although via sound).

OP busy playing with it will hopefully be able to help out when I work things out.

Yip uses sonic link! Just tested and used it today

1) Download WebLINK (NOT websync)

2) Install it and run it.

3) Will ask for your model and username/password enter those details

4) You will then be given the option to upload your data...

5) On your CS200 device while in time mode press the right button until it shows Send

Files

Make sure your Mic on your PC is working first.

Hope this helps.

Ja, bit of a joke. It has never worked for me - holding it up to the built in mic on my mac makes you wonder what the hell the clowns who designed it were thinking.

The sonic link is that a mic as it mentioned in manual or a thing one has to buy seperate.

I have a CS400 that uses IR technology. I found that it only transfers data (both ways) if it lies at 45 deg angle to the IR Dongle. First open the polar software, then press the "down" button and when you realease it should indicate "connect to PC" and then use the file transfer button on the Polar software, a green button in the info bar at the top on my system. It then connects and transfers data as required.

It works for me.

Also I think their reasoning for doing this was that people have microphones and this might have been before USB became popular standard and since it worked they continued to use it.

I also think USB connection might have broken the water resistant factor because it would need a whole to plug it in.

Also CS400 does not use Sonic link so giving instructions for that is pointless.

Yes it is the built in mic you do not need to buy any thing extra.

It's a few months on and I'm curious to see how other C200 owners here did with the soniclink/weblink for uploading to the polar site.

I saw this post back in December, but had no reason to comment since I could offer nothing useful. I did it last night for the 1st time - Followed the instructions on polars site to set up, worked fined despite my misgivings about using an audio based system which are historically prone to errors
