Johannesburg - Three children were seriously injured when a bakkie hit them while they were riding their bicycles near Ennerdale on Thursday, Gauteng police said.

The children, aged five, 10 and 12, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, said Constable Edwin Ntsheo.

"The driver was allegedly speeding when he lost control of the bakkie."

He was not arrested, but would be summoned to appear in the Vereeniging Magistrate's Court soon.

It was not clear if the children were riding their bicycles on the street.

What's the difference between this and the jub jub case? They got inot their vehicles and they used them as weapons. Maybe unintentionally but none the less it is manslaughter. Why is our countries law system so useless? It seems 9 times out of 10 it protects the criminals. One has to wonder how far we go before we turn into a banana republic. It is very sad indeed. Just too many stories like this every day.

Sad days for the families. I see there was a cop arrested for doing some dodgy driving as well, drove into a couple of cars and then scooted off, now he can't afford his R4000 bail! Lets hope he has some vaseline! Or not!

Its mind boggling the amount of people that die on our roads.

I have given up complaining. I just cant anymore. The law in this country is not consistent. Enough, in 7 months time its off the the Welsh countryside for my family, my 4 year old and 2 year old are far more important than riding in perfect weather conditions!
