GF29er Posted January 5, 2011 Share OK, 106kg and 182m ..... I can still fit in my 36inch (= 90cm) jeans but not sure what the measurement is round the 'love handles' I think % loss is good as for a 120kg person its easier to loose, than a 90kg... we could also consider [start bmi - current bmi]/start bmi = % bmi lost which is fairer as it takes into account height. (BMI = weight/[height in Metres x height in Metres])
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted January 5, 2011 Share Yep, I need to lose weight for a very good reason - wedding and honeymoon! I'm 1.8m & 100kg. Resting HR (last measurement) was 55. Cholesterol, BP and RBSC is all pristine. Want to get back down to a fighting weight of 85. The challenge began yesterday. Capricorn Posted January 5, 2011 Share thing is: u need a few metrics:Percentage weight loss as a comparative is a good start. others should bepercentage body fat: skin pinch testwaist linebicepsthighsbuttchestdaily energy uptake: measure carbs + calories, or simply note what and how much you eating.type and duration of exerciseif running: distance and associated timeif cycling: distance and associated time (indirect measurement for cadence and power output)swimming: distance and associated timeweights: mass and reps. IdeJongh Posted January 5, 2011 Share now why go and ruin a good thing. I ask because everyone has an opinion on loss - and we just get to do out own thing. Everyone has their view so I'll quickly add mine - 1. Weight loss is difficult no matter what the magazines tell you2. 90% of weight loss is due to a calorie deficit in your body where it then breaks down fat to refill your glycogen stores3. 10% of weight loss can be achieved by other nitty gritty things such as metabolism, etc etc. Anyone interested I did a basic kCal balance sheet for a hubber last year, I dont mind forwarding it. Daniel XTR Posted January 5, 2011 Share Yeah, good moveI need to loose a few Kg's myself Currently in at 94. 1.94 CM tall. Need to loose around 6 or 7 kg's so i dont get dropped by the bunches on hills. Not cool!
Capricorn Posted January 5, 2011 Share while the above seems too much and too complicated, it's the only way to gain back control of your lifestyle, because it's the very lack of control that lead to the need to lose weight to begin with if u overweight that is.Either way, control is very important, and knowing what u controlling requires some details. Choose a few metrics and take it from there.
Guest coenie Posted January 5, 2011 Share Well I am not a Fatty...ok maybe slightly....ok I am Fat(since my wife said so) I am keen on it...it is like virtual weight watchers....will have to go and weigh myself and try and find a long enough tape measure for the waist measurement.... Will check in tom. How about doing % loss like the "biggest losers" and a BMI thing combined...what is the prize?
