With Helicoil, you'll also need a special tap to thread the hole.

 

Depending on the application, I suggest you use a Vasbyt. This doesn't require a special tool, just a standard drill, probably 10mm on the 8mm Vasbyt.

 

They cost quite a bit - R50 or so, but it is much cheaper than a R600 tap that you'll use once.

 

Get the part over to our courier and I'll do the neccessary for you.

 

Edit: You can get both the Helicoil and Vasbyt from HDS in Susan Street, Stridom Park.

Thanks for the info.

 

Unfortunately this is for my motorbike (I think our courier would struggle ;) ). I stripped the max oil level indicator bolt :angry: and I'm looking to get it repaired.

 

My trawling has also suggested that the Wurth (time-sert) my be a better option than the helicoil...
