Hi. I've been using endomondo on my Android, and its pretty useful. There's also sports tracker. Both apps allow you to use specific bluetooth heart rate monitors with your phone.

I want to know if

1. Anyone has used this solution? Comments.

2. Has anyone purchased one from the endomondo site. Delivery to SA is only 6.5 euro, which is incredibly cheap.

I have been using Sports Tracker, and decided to purchase the bluetooth belt from them, cost Euro 63.00. Delivery from Finland took about 10 days.

SA Customs then nailed me for a further R90.00 import duty.

Works well, and very accurate compared to a normal heart rate monitor, data storage on the Sporttracker site is excellent, and can be imported into Google Earth as well. Only disadvantage is you must have a Nokia with GPS, and battery life is not too great on the 6210 Navigator that I have it only lasts about three hours!!

Due for an upgrade in March, will have to look for longer battery life.

Cool. Do you know what model it is. Zephyr Hxm Seems most popular.

Battery life on the HTC Desire is crap too - curse of all smartphones. But lasts safely 5 hours with endomondo running. I'm sure it'll be closer to 3 hours with bluetooth activated.

So you orderd. It arrives at the SA Post Office? Then you pay the duty at the post office?

You will have to collect at the foreign parcels counter of the post office. You have to produce ID and invoice plus proof of payment. Duties payable in cash only!!

it works with your phone and GPS in the phone with apps that can capture data of your cycling adventures.

so its just a HR chest belt that talks to your cellphone via Bluetooth? Not a watch or a physical monitor then?

Just!

Ha ha. Reason I'm looking for it, is that the apps on the phones rock. And you don't need the full investment into a GPS/HR Monitor, you get all the info you need using your smartphone + a few other extras, like live tracking, workout diary, and challenging friends.

I got the Sports Tracker BT HRM belt. Works well and I enjoy it. But PLEASE be aware that this belt is designed to ONLY work with their software. If you want to use it with eg Endomondo, rather get the Zephyr option. A bit annoying to only discover this after buying the Sports Tracker unit.

However, I must say the Sports Tracker software is cool - I might use it anyway even if I had a choice to use others.

Wow, that was unlucky! Mine arrived and I collected it at the post office with no additional duties.

I still use it every time I am out exercising so feel free to fire away with the questions.
