Don't forget the father of MTB, The friend of all Cyclist... Gary Fisher.

Oh, come now, he's a legend for sure, but he certainly ain't the father of MTB.

Correction... self proclaimed father of MTBing... you happy now?

There was a great interview in Bicycling a coupla months back, in which he acknowledged that pushing the title had lost him many friends in the industry, but he and peeps like Kelley have since kissed and made up.

They are all players in the game, one should never draw too much attention to one self. ;)

all those madmen who tackled the Grand Tours when the roads over the Alps and Pyrennees were little more than goat tracks. The bikes they road were single speed because there was no choice, not because SS was the new black.

(Cool thread, Mr Bender.)

Amen, Bikemonster!

Beyond that, only one for me, though the others have some good stories behind them. But as a pure cyclist, Herr Baron Merckx.

Most definitely Lance Armstrong! Check out the clips of his 2001 Tour de France ascent of Alpe D'Huez on youtube, inspirational stuff!

Insane climbing there, saw it on TV still and what an experience!

I'm with Scotty, Rick Hoyt.

also an (ex) fellow hubber, Mathilda and Growler. Overcomming the challenges and still enjoy their riding.

my heroes are the everyday people, who just get on with it.
