Hi Guys

I am looking at a Specialized SL3 frame that was repaired professionaly.

Whats you opinion on repaired carbon frames. The seller cant take less than R14K?

Just not the same. Like a rebuild code 3 (Previously written off) vehicle.

Once repair work was done, I would say 30 - 40% of normal price.

Most of the time the sellers already received an insurance claim for it as well..... :)

Is it a Sworks frame?

way to much I would say...Less than 9000

I wouldn't pay more than R14 000 for a perfect SL3 second hand, there is no way that I would pay R14 000 for one that has been repaired.

To be honest, despite how good the repair is, I would not pay more than R4 000 for that frame.

Would you pay market value for a car knowing that the chassis was bent in an accident, even if it was straightned by the best panel beaters?

I had a mini cooper s, that was keyed down every single panel...I caught the guy on camera and made him pay for the repair work..

I took it to BMW panel shop and the spray work was better than the original paint, it was perfectly smooth again and there were no stone chips in the front or even a bug splatter residue. I always knew it had been repaired but it was better than before. I sold it for market value and the owner was more than happy.

Sometimes things are actually worth it, even when they are repaired.

I bought a broken Bianchi Infinito last year too, I had it repaired in 4 places, since it was for my wife I figured it didnt need to be strong.

Once I got it back though i built it and test rode it myself to make sure - I belted that bike with everything i had and it didn't flinch...

Carbon repairs nowdays are so good and seamless that you really do get a stronger product then the paper thin walls out of the factory. I dont really know what everyone is afraid of in terms of repairs? How many repaired frames have broken again? Put it to a poll and see...

It was a jealous rage over a girl from 10 years ago, I never even kissed...some people are just plain stupid. R17000 was the bill.

Do you know how many cars and motorbikes get bought from the insurance companies before they are Coded, then repaired and sold as standard non Coded vehicles? Hundreds every year. and you don't hear about them breaking in half while waiting for the lights to change! Cosmetic damage on vehicles add up so fast with the high prices on individual parts.

Let say the repairs isnt noticeable and dont give problems ever. I am just worried that because I dont keep things long I might struggle to resell again?

Will decide once I got enough reponse.
