Hey all searched but nothing so here goes.

I currently have a 18" mtb frame and want to buy a new one, found a good deal on a 19" model.

I'm really keen on it but unsure if it will fit me or not.

I'm 1,76m with an 82cm inseam, ride a 54cm roadbike with a 52cm measurement from top of the seatclamp to middel BB.

Middel BB to saddle top is 75cm on mtb and road bike, but on my current mtb frame im running a very seatpost that sticks out very high as the seattube is 47,5cm.

Top tube on the mtb is 57,5cm from middel of the seattube to front of the headtube and I'm running a 110mm stem on a 130mm headtube with tall headset and 4x 2mm spacers.

Now if the 19'' frame is 48,3cm (vs 47,5) on the seattube, that should be fine as I can easily run bit less seatpost.

The toptube is 59cm (vs 57,5) so would I be able to shorten the stem to 100 or even 90mm to create the same setup as before ? What will this do to bike handeling ?

Now the toptube itself will be higher and with a 143mm headtube I will need to run a low headset with no/minimal spacers to get the same drop to the bars as before.

Dunno if any of this makes sense but does anyone think this will work ?

Fact is that with such a long seatpost part sticking out the frame it seems to me the current frame is actually a bit small, as I also have lots of spacers to raise the bars.

But then again I've read a smaller size mtb is better WRT handling and standover hight.

Maybe I should so an assesment to get all the correct measurement I need on the bike and take it from there ?

I'm 1,76cm and got a 18" - at times it feels like its a tad on the large size. So much so that my next bike will be a small (16").

On a road/commuter its not an issue for me (my current 18" MTB is being converted to a commuter), but its on the trails and those stick places that I find banging my mangyna happens a bit too much on this size frame.

Same thing here, also 1,76 with a 18". It works for the most part, but yeah, doesn't quite as well as my 54 cm road bike.

What is a mangyna!!!!

Don't do that.

I am also 1,76 and ride a 17" mtb frame with a 120mm stem on it.After riding a friends bike which is 18" and a 100mm stem i have decided that my next bike will be a 18".The handling just feels less twichy with the 100mm stem.

WW how long is your current stem?

I was actually thinking of putting a shorter stem on my 18", thanks for sharing that.

Not sure but a fellow colleague has just got herself a small Merida and the frame size is perfect. I think it all depends on the bike setup.
