On a tandem you need both due to the higher tyre pressures, unless you have a backup vehicle of course.

Actual question - how long can a 'bomb' cannister last?

I'm assuming they don't leak or anything?

 

I've had 2 for more than a year now' date=' on account of me not having to have used them.

 

The one is still as is, in my camelbak.

The other, I've already screwed into my Moskito applicator, i.e. it's 'seal' has been broken... figured I'd save some space.

 

Question though - I'm assuming the one I keep in the camelbak is still fine, but what about the one inside the applicator, that has already been 'punctured' - surely that might lose some of its gas over time?

 

How long can the cannisters be safely kept?

think the unsealed ones can last indefinitely, but i'm not a chemist or physicist. my most recent barbeiri applicator came with two space bombs and one already attached. it had been sitting in the shop for quite a while and it worked perfectly the first time i used it, so i'm guessing those applicators are pretty much airtight
