Where to service a MTB and a Road Bike in Somerset West?

As a school laaitie I worked in both Cycle Addiction (back then it was Maverick) and Helderberg. I won't take my bike to Helderberg again. Things might have changed over the years, but my loyalty lies with Cycle Addiction. The relationship I have with them is so strong that I still drive through from the N-Subs to have my bike serviced. I recommend going there.

William is also a great oke, he has an awesome store and his prices are great.

Hijack on:

Xtc1, are you talking about Jaco Beukes?

He's a great oke.

Hijack off.

I don't, I live in Lakeside which is 42Km away. SO when I say William is brilliant remember that I am driving a moerse long way out of my area to go there!

HCW....Don't mention the war [spits]

next time we can make a plan with a lift .... work alot in CT, take the bike through for you.

Ok great thanks, thats kind ofyou. Will bare the offer in mind when I next need to take it through. Althogh I love going there myself just a for a chat and cup of coffee. I make the most of my day trip and spend some time flying my model plane at Helderberg Radio Flyers

aaaahhh good man, that must be one of the busiest airfields around. In the mornings on the way to work (06H30) there are at least two planes in the air.

there is one at flamingo vlei i have seen, do they use that one at all ?

GoLefty - do you ride a lefty?

Where to get the best service for a lefty in Cpt area - Williams?

Forgive me if I sound snotgat but I service my own Lefty. I was jsut lucky enough to spend time on weekends in a maaitjies bike shop when I lived near Wrexham in Wales some years ago.

Locally I think "Fiekie" is the best.

William knows a heck of a lot about the LEfty but even he farms them off to Omnico. the tools are expensive, the job is time consuming and often the owners don't know whats (if anything) is wrong with it.

So my first call would be too Fiekie.

Nour At Cape Cycle Systems is also good but I am not sure if they still take on Lefty work.

So cutting a long story short.

I'd rate Fiekie as thebest Lefty mech in the country

I'd give William a call for sure since I think he is also brilliant with them

If he does nothave the time, Omnico is brilliant, Russell Palm is your contact man.

Slowbee: you are welcome to try either the trailer or my iBert chair, just PM me to make a plan.

PhilipV: Jaco used to be in the workshop at Helderberg Cycles

Williams: Top bloke, top bike porn, top shop, workshop expensive compared to where I usually go and not always the quickest when you need work done in a hurry. But when you want to feel the passion and get inspired to bend some plastic, go have a chat to William.

Re Helderberg Cycle Works: I do not enjoy going into a bike shop where I get treated like an alien when I walk in by the same staff who I have met and spoken to on numerous occasions. The workshop has previously helped me quickly and efficiently but after an unpleasant incident where my wife got some serious attitude from one of the staff after they had made a mistake sellig her something which was incorrect I won't go back there. I get the feeling that place is run as a profit centre and not out of a passion for the sport. I suppose it's a business so thats their focus and it's their prerogative, it's not the kind of environment where I like to spend my bucks though.

XTC1: I agree with your sentiment on Helderberg "I get the feeling that place is run as a profit centre and not out of a passion for the sport."

I phoned him last week for a V-brake Fork, he got rather uninterested in the call until I mentioned that I was about to order one from Jaynic in the morning and was just phoning around for other options. Only then did he show some interest.

Speak to Malan or Heino at Cycle Addiction 021 851 8021, just off main road Somerset West. Best in the area in my opinion.

Malan and the guys at Cycle addiction are great. Won't take my bikes anywheres else!
