From CSAs perspective, there are advantages:

Less logistical hassle. Sometimes there are only 20 to 30 starters per vet age cat, with 1 or 2 teams controlling the race. Vets racing will be harder now, the tactics and standards will improve.

 

Less time&effort spent on vets, who seem to fall outside their focus area. It looks as if they see vets as a resource to improve our Elite racing. Is that so bad?

 

Do you actually race bicycles?

 

What happens if you are racing for the National Road title in a mixed group of riders and a break goes off the front. How are you going to know if your age riders are in that group? What if there is and you don't know it and you sprint for the win only to have your fire put out by hearing that someone else has won? That would suck would it not.
