OK so my Polar stopped working and I don't want another one. I have a R350/R400 budged and need a computer for my mtb. Most of the bike computers give too much info for me. At this stage I'm using a cheap Cateye velo 8. My problem with this is that it only gives you youre ride time and on a mountain bike race/practice you sometimes stop and then you loose your time. Any suggestions?

Bought a cheap 'Beta-2' from Cajees last year, gives me real time, time taken on the trip, trip meter, odometer, average speed, current speed and top speed.

Cost me around R170

can't go wrong with a Sigma. Used to have one, until I got myself a Garmin. Small, simple to operate, and it has a stopwatch function - not just an auto stop/start. But then at that price point you have loads of choices, all of which WILL work on an MTB. You just have to give the cable the right amount of slack, or run it around the brake hose.

Knog Nerd 9

Wireless. Very quick to install (no cable ties). Simple to use. Big display. Rugged (as it's rubberized all over). And it it will fit on most forks (even fits my Boxxer and my Marzo 66 RCV which has 38mm stanchions. I had a sigma before the Knog and the silly elastic mounting system couldn't fit around such big lowers).

I paid R450 for it
