Campagnolo Super Record is the Lightest

Here endith the lesson!

:P ;) :P ;)

Groups Road

SRAM made claims to have produced the first sub 2kg groupset in their 2008 Red offering. However anyone who had taken the time to add up the component weights would have found that Campagnolo Record 10sp was under 2kg in 2007.

In 2011 SRAM Red still have the lightest group available (by 26g) with their BB30 crank option, however the BB30 cranks are not compatible with many bikes as yet. The Campagnolo Super Record group at 1875g is the lightest group that can be fitted to any standard bike.

I must say the sram is good value for money but nothing beats Super Record

Well, thats until the Record casette has worn out and you have to buy another one @ R2500, compared to SRAM Red @ R1500 (totalcycling prices). SRAM is steel, it will last much longer, too.

Cool, just ride record not super record, cassette is R1700, couple grams heavier than Red GXP, but man. 100 times sexier!

:D :D :D :D :D

SRAM is cool, have it on my mtb. The guys who are quiet are the Shimano guys. Di2 500g more! That's a lot. Even normal Dura Ace seems on the heavy side, that's unlike Shimano

I have Sram Red BB30...what do I win?

I have had three red groups and there are variances in their parts weights...so you may get a "heavy " set of shifters...or a "light" RD

Campag feels nice to ride with. Those ergo levers are amazing and comfortable. However, the problem for me with campag is the price and the shifting sounds like a tin can.

SRAM's levers might not be as super comfortable, but the shifting is unbelievealbly smooth and quiet and it is not as expensive if you break a component.

The record crank looks pretty wack though. Just looks like a cheap FSA crank from a distance. Ok, now I am stirring. haha

I wonder how plain Record compares with SRAM force, weight wise?

Di2 and Super Record are difficult to compare. Sure, SR is lighter, but shift performance of Di2 is mind blowing.

Force is not in the same price class Record. It is more Chorus.

Di2 should be compared to Kampmagnolia's electronic groupset. Apples with apples.

SHIMANO Guys, where are you?

SRAM and Campagnolo are well represented

Shhhhh, if Oom H sees this thread, it will end up at pros and cons of Toyota or who knows where.

Apples with Apples

Record 1974g R12,500 Ex Ex

Red 1928g R11,100 Ex Ex

Dura Ace 2111g R11,400 Ex Ex

Bearing In mind Red needs an upgrade so Pricing is end of Run.

Campag is 2011 spec and latest Dura Ace

Assuming Super Record is exactly that 'Super' and Di2 is Electric, the above is pretty clearcut.
