Guest boowsnobems Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I have always wanted an iPad and thought I would wait a few months from release date before getting one. However, I have now learnt that the current iPad only has 256MB of RAM memory. This concerns me a lot as the new iPhone 4 has double (512MB). It concerns me as I currently have an iPhone 3G which doesnt function on iOS 4 and I do not want to have an obsolete iPad in 18 months. I have bought a zenithink Andriod 2.2 Tablet PC I dont want to wait until this time next year for iPad 2, but I dont want to buy an iPad now if a new one is coming out around December 2010/January 2011. For those who have yet to buy but plan to, what are your advice? Buy Now? Or Wait?
Cois Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Well I spotted a Samsung thing in our store room today... Looks like a i-pad less the logo of Apple, but the price is almost the same. Can't remember what the product is called, but at the end of the day it is almost a cell phone with a 7" screen. Might work, but one problem... Will Gimp run on it Good luck, but I will wait and see what the market dishes up

If you can get it imported when it comes out wait for the ipad 2 and expect to pay R2000 more than what you can get the ipad for here. We are going to have the ipad for a while here and wont get the better ipad 2 in SA for ages. ipad 2 should be launched within the next 2 weeks if I am not mistaking. The price for the ipad in SA is cheaper than it is in the UK so its a hard one..ether get the ipad for a good price or wait and import the ipad 2 for a lot more.

Edwin Watson Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Tab is definitly not worth it,its to big to be a phone and to small to be a decent tablet. If that was a 10inch and better priced I would go for it but the ipad is still the way to go.
MTB_Roadie Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 My girlfriends sister bought a IPAD online....16gb....haha....funny thing, now 2 weeks later it arrived in SA and is R2000 less.... I personally think its a waste as it is quite bulky, you can't really play cool games on it, so its mainly for music....but other than that...whats the point?
