So there has been a lot of talk about the Xterra tomorrow and how muddy it is going to be...

I have heard that "Spray-and-Cook" on the tires helps to stop the mud from sticking. Can anyone confirm this? Also, can you spray this on the bike frame and components as well to ease cleaning afterwards?

Maybe something like Wynn's Dash?

Dude.

You could always use baby oil on your tyres. It will be like your own personal trainer OUTDOORS.

Seriously now: don't grease your tyres!

Buy a can of SILICONE spray. Spray onto a soft cloth and wipe your frame down, then polish with a clean soft cloth.

You can do rims (unless you run v-brake :) ) and tyre sidewalls, but keep well clear of your tread.

Also keep clear of your disk rotors, and any fork/shock sliders.(wipe these down with IPA afterwards to be sure)

The MUD won't stick anywhere near as badly.

Enjoy :)

Apply clear 3M tape to your down tube behind the front wheel. This stops mud from sticking and prevents stone chips as well. Spray and cook has been known to work but a good automotive polish will also do the trick and it protects. Q20 on the deraileur with lots of lube and you should be good to go. NO lube etc on theh tyres unless you feeling adventurous... ;)

Chain-L on the chain works well too.

Remember, if you cannot ride though the thick mud, then carry you bike. It is amazing how much mud the tyres pick up when you are pushing the bike. I'm talking about the thick, sticky type of mud.
