Ever had a tyre where on the side wall on the little nobblies(side wall moulding knobs)the tyre springs aleak as the bike is just standing inside the house, had my front tyre blow on 4 different places on the side wall anyone had this problem

I had the exact same problem with Rocket Rons - apparently they are not true tubeless tyres rather tubless ready - what ever the difference is ? but apparently they will eventually seal you just have to give them time. I gave up and changed them to Lustys.

We have been using foldable non-UST Rocket Rons for more than a year as tubeless, and have never experienced any problems with them.

They are on Mavic 317 and ZTR Alpine rims.

hey, I have Rocket Rons too and "converted" them to tubeless.

No problems whatsoever, been riding tough roads in Kenya for a couple of months, and everyone tuning my white tyres, but I have not had one puncture.

They did deflate a bit initially, but according to some guys in the know here the "bombs" can sometimes react with Stans and cause them to deflate...don't ask me how.

Haven't pumped my tyres in 3 weeks now and haven't lost any pressure.

Perhaps someone can enlighten me, as I have no idea what a tubeless ready tyre is.

The only tyres I know of are either UST Tubeless, Foldable Non-UST and Beaded tyres.

UST are normally heavier as they are meant to be tubeless, and have thicker sidewalls that the Foldable Non UST, while beaded are heavy tyres with a distinct bead on the edge, and are not foldable.

Some manufacturers make tubeless ready versions... It basically is the normal foldable version with a slightly thicker sidewall and wider, flatter bead, OR the same sidewall with a wider and flatter bead for better sealing on the rim. They normally are quite an amount lighter than USTs.

I used the normal foldable 'Performance' version in Attakwas, and been riding them without any punctures since September 2010... the ones I weighed were 460-490g, but fast wearing... not even 2000km on the rear tyre.

I agree. Very light, but after 2 weeks of use i started noticing considerable wear.

I used the non UST foldable. The one sealed but the other didn't. It takes time to fill all the micro holes in the sidewalls.

they roll really fast though.

Moved to crossmark non UST foldable- seal better, grip better, wear better, less expensive and only slightly heavier...no comparison

I had similiar problems with rockets and racing ralphs, had to pump them regularly. I used stans on my American classic rims. Recently used 'zeroflats' and no need to pump it!!!! With the zeroflats the initial sealing was a bit more difficult than with stans, but after a few hard pumps and shaking the wheel it just sealed amazing. I used a floor pump.

Blew the tyre off the rim once trying to get a solid seal with stans, pumped it to 4.2 bar and kaabooom! Sealant all over the place and useless tyre :o :o
