i also enjoyed the race..

started the day with a very steady slow run. After been held up by slower mtb riders on the wooden brigdes i got my cycle legs back.

i caught agteros and a few others... really felt great and started to pick up more speed...

.....then i crashed at the downhill section close to the brigde. come down pretty heavy. dont know if i was unlucky or just plain stupid. so my race was over.

thanks to the medical staff for the help.

I picked up a tool bottle holder thingy. there was tools and money in.gave it to the organizers. hope the owner got it back..

sjoe it took me 20min to type this. i can onlt use my one hand... :(

I was wondering what happened to you on that second lap, it was as if you disappeared! Could not think that I rode way from you!

I also nearly came off on the next downhill section back down to the bridge underneath the . Felt like I had both wheels next to me, not underneath me. blink.gif

Hope your arm/shoulder(?) is not too badly hurt?

Where are the days when I used to run like that? unsure.gif Floating through the air, bounding from step to step, not plodding from footfall to footfall huh.gif

HAd a alright race. Legs were dead from the previous day's race at Rooiwal. Had a front row seat to to spectacular crashes. THe first was in the marsh area where a lady was hoping to win back time lost on the "detour" went right and the front wheel just sunk away leaving her with a free facial.

The second was less humourous, as Andre de Beer raced past me off the bridges, he misjudged the changing road serfaces and did a head over heals. HE was out for about three seconds. I waited until the paramedic was on sight. His bike was tangled with one of the route boards. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch.

THe last "Crash" I saw was probably skaap, as the whole area was littered with bike repair kit stuff. I missed the crash and only saw the aftermath.

The run leg had its own meaness, as it was uphill out of the transition, making it extra ouch.

Next race resolution:

Don't do anything the day before the duathlon, going in tired will destroy the race in the first 500 meters.

Do more running every day. (everyone's weakness???)

Eat more, drink more, don't bonk. Those energy thingies, they actually work.
