  1. I have - and this one.. https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2017/09/power-meter-pedal-shootout-vector-3-vs-powertap-p1-vs-assioma.html I'm actually now just trying to find a local distributer so that I can get a price point for the Assioma, so that I can compare that with the P1 (although P1 is heavy and chunky), which is a pity
  2. Hey all, So, I'm starting to give up hope about the Garmin V3 pedals ever being delivered (or being accurate, once delivered), and so am looking at other options. Anyone used the Favero Assioma? Thoughts / opinions / warnings? Thanks! D
  3. Does anyone on the hub know what the delay in on the Garmin Vector 3 dual side pedals? I heard something about a recall, but don't know the details and was hoping someone here would have the inside scoop? I paid for mine six months ago and am getting no-where with the store I ordered them through - so this is all very frustrating.. Thank you!
  4. Morning all hubbers.. Need some insight please - can someone give me guidance as to how technical W2W is? We are doing our first Sani2C this year, and looking to do a Joberg2C next year. Having said this - I'm not a rock-garden-down-a-verticle-descent kinda gal and have eaten dirt badly on Meerendal switchbacks before... Modderfontein and Breedts are my "toughest" playgrounds so far. So is the wine-tour GOOD or BAD idea for the price, logistics and experience?

Compared to the short part of Breedts? Asking because I have never done Sani before, and my husband is NOT a lover of the climbing.
  6. I have both a 650b and a 29'er. I have changed my riding on a male size small Scott 29'er and probably won't go back to the 27,5 (I'm totally in love with the geometry and handling of the Scott Spark). I'm 157cm, so definitely not the tallest rider around. A quick skills course, with Amy McDougal or someone from Rosemary hills / CycleLab will give all the confidence and ability to ride the 29 wheels comfortably, and she'll keep up on the flats and longer non-technical climbs. On gears, I'm currently on a 1x12 - which has around 500% range, and I only ever have to worry about buttons on one side and no chain-slip. However, maybe a 2x10 would be an option if lots of range is required. 3x is a lot to think about when going up and down and up in quick succession - but anything gets better with practice
  7. False alarm, I did indeed get my 3000 points, just a pity it was for the date of the START of the race, and not the finish
  8. My Garmin says it was outside the 260 It was brutal - I also walked a good 2km in the camping park. But then 17+ hours, two crashes and a brilliant team mate and support crew later - it was finished. Too soon to say whether I'd do it again-but my hubby is in it to win it next year! He's looking for his sense of humour, last seen about 30km after Loskop - if anyone picked it up??
  9. A quick shout-out for the excellent service I received, and the great product that I bought from them. I e-mailed the NiteCoreSA team three days for the C2T race - an overnight adventure that I was panic-buying for - asking about headlamps. Louis responded in minutes to my request for info - with everything that I had asked about, including better alternatives, spare batteries and costs. When I placed the order, the stock was delivered the next morning. As for the headlamp itself - I used it for 13 solid hours, on a lowish, but very suitable light setting - and the battery showed no sign of slowing down. It sat perfectly on my helmet, was easy to operate and the light focus was fantastic. It feels like a good quality and solid piece of equipment, that can be used for many different overnight sports. In summary - a full 5/5 to the team for both their assistance and the product itself.
  10. There must be an entire lost-and-found bucket, full of senses of humours - all found by some innocent supporter, from that last section. I know that the trail-builder wasn't given much time for the trail refinement, but it felt like a lawnmower had been taken over a "mountain", and we called it a trail... I was about middle of the pack - never saw a single rider ON their bike - but heard LOADS of beautiful language
  11. Can anyone verify the latest Vitality stinker that was just posted on Facebook - that many of us won't be issued the ultra-distance 3000 points for a 260km Cullinan to Tonteldoos ride - because we entered as part of a team, and they don't reward team events??
  12. true story!! Pity we never heard back from the every enthusiastic salesman though... Guess I will never know if they accept my cheque
  13. If you have a Garmin - whatever you do - DO NOT de-link and re-link. There is (was?) an issue where the de-link happens in your side, but nit in their back-end system. It took me nearly three weeks, endless stress, time and phone-calls before we eventually managed to get enough frustration on social media for them to allocate a devices expert to de-link it and delete it in their back-end system so that the whole thing could be relinked. According to Garmin - both sets of developers and technical experts are working on a "permanent" solution.
  14. To the people who have done this before... I understand there is a LOT of climbing in the race - but how "technical" is this climbing? Breedt's solidly kicked my butt yesterday from a rocks and gravel perspective (and yes - I only made it up the short slope - didn't even TRY the long slope) - so an now concerned that if I am doing that for the lat 100km - I am definitely out of my league!
  15. So - I rode the kindly shared vGaalens to Breedts route yesterday - it kicked my a$$ properly.I made to within 200m of the top of breeds (the SHORT side) and am now seriously concerned about the ability to complete C2T, if the climbing of of the same rocky, slately make-up. Is the technical ability of the climb what is so good about it - or just the climb itself? Typically, a little extended gradient isn't too much of an issue - but yesterday... different story. If I wasn't navigating rocks in the 2nd low granny gear - I actually might have made it to the top - but the losing my back wheel all the time made it near impossible! May need a different personality and an extra 10kg to keep the rear wheel down if I try that all again
