  1. Eliminate those magic mushrooms from your diet...E-bike mayhem at rush-hour, nightmare stuff!
  2. The answer is...Yes. As long as you put your ride as an E-Bike ride and not a normal bike. Too many dicks out there on e-Bikes logging their rides as normal bikes to claim normal KOM's. Blocking someone on Strava is completely different. It just blocks someone from following you on Strava.
  3. Have fun...road riding gives you a great speed rush after MTB'ing. Be careful though because tar is not as forgiving as the trails can be, if you come off... KOM chasing also becomes addictive.
  4. You're right the cassette isn't a "climbing cassette. A modern day cassettes goes up to 32 at the rear and the small ring up front on a compact is a 34. This bike is ideal for racing on the flats...unless you're super strong! The rear derailleur looks like a short cage so you wont be able to slap on a bigger tooth'ed cassette.
  5. As I've heard before, cyclists will choose you as a LBS if: a) you are nearby them...collect and dropping off is a bonus! b) if you offer a good service at a good price. c) you don't B.S. your clients with servicing that they don't need. d) you have the technical knowledge to problem solve and come up with the winning solution. e) you put a little polish on the bikes before delivering - not the awful sticky gel stuff that you get all over your hands when first touching the bike. PS: good book-keeping and getting COD is preferable. Sometimes late-night accounting is part of the job (get your missus/sister or mother involved if possible - free labour) Try not to scandal or speak badly of clients or suppliers - it can come back to bite you. Good luck with your venture
  6. You're SPECIAL...! If you take it off Private every other day you'll really mess with his head!
  7. SACRILEGE...Such sucurrilous behaviour...insulting one of the pillars of our most wonderful sport. Insulting Strava could cause the collapse of the whole system. Whoa...hold back there buddy! Without Strava, the truth wouldn't prevail. (And remember...if it's not on Strava...it didn't happen.)
  8. Hey...the only reason that I race is to follow the hot, fast chicks. Don't spoil my fun! Oh, and I also do it for my finish time.
  9. Yes...But did they race those E-Bikes against normal Bikes??? I don't think so...so lets keep them separated!!!
  10. I have a number of times (Thanks for your info). He is a persistent Ol' Bugger!
  11. I know another old bugger eating up Strava KOM's in our area on his E-Bike. He, of course, is only targeting steep uphill KOM's - doesn't give a damn that he's cheating! as I said...Old Bugger!
  12. Thanks Gents, its been a great afternoon. Lets do this again soon...😉
  13. I don't think that many (if any) have said BAN e-bikes. They have just said - Keep them separate from normal bikes (either in front or behind)
  14. Because a LOT of hubbers are saying, in this chat, that they enter races for the Fun of it and imply that most riders in a race do the same... I don't agree and think that most riders enter a race to see how well they have done according to their finish time. In other words - they are racing. A Poll (where riders give there preferences to - A: Do I enter a race just for fun - not interested in my time or B: Do I enter a race to race and get a finish time) would give a numerical answer as to how many Hubbers favour A or B.
  15. I think that you've got the wrong end of the stick. It's just a POLL to see HOW MANY ride for the RACE or just for the FUN. (No one is being excluded!)
  16. Maybe BikeHub needs to run a poll to see whether the majority of cyclists (on BikeHub) enter races to race (ride for a time)...looking to improve their time... Or just happy to ride for fun - no time required, not interested in whether they were faster/or slower that previous years.
  17. Did you find out theses statistics in your latest private Poll? Don't agree with your conclusion on unproven statistics...
  18. The term Race means "competition" - a contest of "Speed". As a child you learn to compete with the aim to win (but not so much in today's world it would seem!!!) It makes NO DIFFERENCE whether I am leading the race or whether I am "mid-pack" or whether I'm a tail-ender - I'm still competing and would like it to feel like a "fair" race. I don’t enter a race to have people who are not on an equal footing as me (for example: by taking performance enhancing drugs / riding a bike with a motor on it etc.) compete against me! My ROAG seeding puts me with riders who are similar in speed over the distance and I get a GREAT experience in competing against riders who are similar in speed to me. This, to me, is what I ENJOY about participating in a race. I'm also competing against myself - to see if I can better my time for this race from the year previous. I have no problem with e-Bike riders entering races but please let them go first so that they don’t crush the spirits of riders slogging up a steep hill and having the "mosquito" brigade (some e-bikes unfortunately sound like a pesky mosquito sneaking up on you in the middle of the night - I experienced this in the Wartburg Race (KZN) a few weeks ago) pass them on the hills. These same e-bike riders also stopped at the last two water tables (after having just passed me before their first stop) and so overtook me THREE times. So in my conclusion - it's just very ANNOYING to have to interact with these e-bike competitors during a race so I would appreciate it if organisers could make a plan to separate different bike types and give all competitors the feeling that they are competing on an equal footing… [BTW Jewbacca- it has nothing to do with not accepting E-Bikes… It has nothing to do with "integration" - (I had to laugh at that one)… It has nothing to do with a small superior minority… It has nothing to do with embracing the inevitable… It is all to do with the Race Experience and a bike with a motor should be separated from human powered bikes in a race. Unfortunately there are a likely minority who don’t like racing and try to put down cyclists who don’t want the race experience to be tarnished. (As my grandfather would say - Put that in your pipe and smoke it!)
  19. KZN also has that thing called humidity, especially in February...adds Big to the discomfort.
  20. Your sign says 15 Feb 2020. This years race is 12 Feb 2022...
  21. Early entries are closed. Think that late entries are accepted on the day. Please check first.
  22. You should be able to do it easily under three hours. My first race was 2h 50m and second was 2h 16m. Please be aware that there are not many chances to rest on the downhills. Most are fairly technical or fast. Some great sections through the forests - fast and twisty (I clipped a tree and ended up eating the dirt) also dropped the chain once so installed a chain guide after that. Suggested bike is a dual suspension unless you're good on a hardtail. Heat is one of the biggest factors - Mid feb and temperatures will probably climb into the low 30's...
  23. I'm just doubtful of a BikeHub courier company...unless it is in partnership with another existing company. Too many well established companies out there and with Pudo and the likes of similar companies offering budget deliveries (R50 for small parcels), would prove to be difficult to break into the market. BH does have a captured market so it is possible???
