  1. ...and Mega can open up a host of other off topic subjects like hot looking riders (I'm keeping it tidy here) and lots of other topics not accessible to normal members... a kind of smorgasbord of nonsense stuff to keep the keyboards ticking of the very few members who need this type of daily fix. It would make the subscription paid ABSOLUTELY worth it... Go on Matt...Do It...! (my friends count has just reached ...zero!)
  2. Lets be contentious...as there are NO FREE LUNCHES BikeHub Basic membership gives access to BikeHub but limited to 10 forum comments per month. (No charge). Bike Hub Chat membership allows you up to 60 forum comments per month (R10 per month). BikeHub Chat Mega allows you unlimited forum comments per month. (R20 per month) Bike Hub Plus allows Mega (see above) including it's present offering (+- R40 per month) (wonder how many "friends" I still have!)
  3. I bought two tan type. Gonna try them out...
  4. https://www.easybike.co.za/polar-adjustable-front-bike-mount.html https://www.easybike.co.za/polar-speed-cadence-sensor-bluetooth-smart-set.html Many thanks...
  5. Maybe a good quality insert might help? Try "borrow" a set from your running/sport shoes to see if it makes a difference?? Make sure the cover is still in place covering the cleats on the inside of the shoes...
  6. Excellent. Glad that you had a few spare gold coins to melt down. Almost too good to ride...a work of ART!
  7. Sorry, that was some bad info. Beacon (Strava feature) works on a mobile (cell phone). You activate it on your cell then go ride (with your cell). When you push the button it will send a signal to those you have linked up and advise them of your position.
  8. No...wont work with Strava Beacon!
  9. I'm not sure if through Strava, the V650 has a beacon facility. If you go on-line and query your GPS device, it can send its position.
  10. Nothing short of Stunning! It will be great to see the final build...
  11. I use the Ergon Grips with palm support...older model on 3 MTB's. I wouldn't consider going back to "round" grips as they are so much more comfortable if set correctly.
  12. The couch is a pure give-away! (No pun intended)
  13. A great video...a must watch for ALL road users!
  14. Just had a quick look at the above posts and although we might want to give him Kudo's for what he is doing, I don't think that he has the right to stand in a road and stop cars (legally?). One day some brute of a guy is going to flatten him with a car (or fist maybe) and declare that he purposely stepped out into the road in front of him - as you can see there is already evidence of him doing so! Although some might see him as well intentioned, I believe that he can do all his recordings from the side of the road and not interfere with the traffic flow in any way! I hope some aggrieved person doesn't take him out one day for his impersonation of a traffic cop!
  15. I have a smart trainer but I also connect my Polar watch (picks up my separate cadence & power devices but reads my shared HR (H10) with the smart trainer so that my Polar site can also track my indoor rides...other wise it thinks I'm under-trained...!
  16. Well then...Let me give you another Kudo's...
  17. Replying to the OP...Giba does have some very tricky trails where a 100mm HT really isn't the ideal bike - except for the best of us who regularly use a HT on trails! A dual suss is more ideal and a dropper post is wanted in some of the steeper drop-offs. Although a HT XC bike is cheaper and less maintenance costs involved going forward, it isn't always the ideal bike for a beginner/intermediate who is keen on the "difficult" trails. A more trail orientated HT bike is a little tougher climbing up (than going down) but one needs to look at what bike will most suit your requirements - and there is no bike that suits all conditions. As a person who took up riding in my later years, I firstly bought a hard tail which I realised had limitations. Bought a dual suss (slacker angles than XC) and have loved the bike. It can handle all that I can throw at it. I have dropped the weight on my HT and use it for cyclo-cross type races - coz' its faster. Do your research and buy the bike that suits what you need it to do...
  18. Any up-to-date reviews on this tyre. Just about to strap on two for a trial...looks like a reasonable weight XC tyre...was very cheap??
  19. The seller is shop based...so warranty, receipt etc, etc I'm sure will be included. Phone him to check, if you want.
  20. The difference is only R105...no big deal!!
  21. Agreed that ratings are vital to establish a Hubbers credibility. But beware of false ratings...they are usually easy to spot...poor English and grammar and then you can check up on each person giving a rating...looking at their profile. I've made about 20 purchases from Hubbers all around the country and never had a problem....
  22. Too many negative comments on this post... Strava is great motivator...when I don't feel in the mood I check out what my mates are riding and that inspires me to get out and ride more... I can keep tabs on my mates in three different cycling groups and see where they are riding. With segments I can keep and eye on my own progress. Strava showed me (with live segments) pretty instantaneously that my performance was dropping. A nutritionist confirmed that it was too many energy bars...was snacking on them during the day!! Live segments and KOM's push me into riding harder and faster (because that's what I want). I've always been competitive and so Strava has become my constant training partner. 80% of my riding is done alone so its great having a partner to accompany me. KOM's come and go. You win some, you lose some. No sweat, no big deal. Strava is a motivator and a connector with my mates. You can even organise a group ride on Strava and everyone gets notifications about the ride. No one really wants to boast about their KOMs by listing them here. Chasing KOMS can be great fun...but its not for everyone.
  23. Pay the fee for Premium...so worth it with Live Segments. Wouldn't want it any other way...such a motivator...
