  1. What about joining two (or more) of those 'word lock' thingies? Might be easier. Otherwise there's a place on Voortrekker Rd Maitland, near Rubber Products & Mouldings that make up all kinds of cables - they could prolly help you.
  2. E. But I won't be there, dagnabbit! But it's not all doom and gloom - I'll be preparing to head to Philip Island to drive a 1947 MG TC single seater special in a historic motorsport weekend...a week before the Aussie F1 GP. (Where I won't be competing.)
  3. I know that's your particular beef, but the whole "race fees are too fierce" thing comes up very regularly. Ahhhh, WTF, there are only every about 12 topics on the Hub...it's part of the fun! Nothing was intended to be taken personally.
  4. ...and we have a new contender for fave Hub ladyperson!
  5. No, I mean whingeing pansy girls. You spend how much on kit? You spend how many hours training? And then you squeal about race fees? Racing isn't compulsory. If you don't want to do it, don't. Welcome to the market economy. If race fees do not represent good value, don't enter. If you feel race organisers are ripping everybody off, go right ahead and do it cheaper.
  6. Cheeky! (See what I did there?)
  7. I suspect that this thread is about to erm, outstrip the religious threads of the last few days. Before being locked.
  8. Ermmm...I guess. This thread is in danger of being useless without pics.
  9. Bunch of whingeing pansies!
  10. Ignore all of the advice on this thread so far. It's all well meaning, but your saddle has to fit your ass. As I've posted on other threads, when it comes to saddles there are no general guidelines. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The only plus is that if you buy a saddle from CRC, and it's much cheaper than buying locally, you will be able to sell it on, and get your money back.
  11. FWIW, mine don't, not after 7 years or so and several thousand kilometres. I do remember the rattle that my 105 9 speed and a mate's Ultegra had. I do not believe that any gruppo is significantly better than competitors' equivalents, so let's not see this as another Hub religious war.
  12. ...and also remove the rear der, bundle it up in a plastic bag with as much of the chain as you can, tape the whole lot up, and tape it to the RHS chain stay to stop the der hanger being bent (or worse). Bonus Top Tip: buy a whole bunch of disposable examination gloves from your local chemist to keep your hands clean. Or if you do a lot of garage stuff, buy a whole box from a medical supplies company.
  13. Cut pieces of threaded bar to fit. The use nuts and washers on each side of each dropout. Easy peasy!
  14. That's your recumbent parked outside, isn't it?
  15. Flat pedals on a road bike are an abomination. If you use them I will smite you!
  16. Rubbish! Your home province has the friendliest cyclists. Any other province where your rode once and a cyclist didn't greet you has the most unfriendly, stuck up, snooty, would-be Euro pro posers. This one time, at band camp...
  17. Given recent Hub activity when I saw a thread titled "Rear Hub Problems" I thought that this might be another thread about man love. Anyhoo, moving swiftly on, any light(ish) automotive grease should be fine. In the navy (see what I did there?) the rule was: If it moves fast, oil it. If it moves slowly, grease it. If it's brass, polish it. If it's utterly useless, salute it. And just for the record, I have no experience of either man love nor being in the navy but I do believe that those are not necessarily synonynmous activities.
  18. Full points awarded for usage of "smite"!
  19. I get headaches sometimes after a long (3 hours) ride if it is a hard ride. In my case the "cure" has been to have an ice cold Coke as soon as poss after the ride finishes. For PPA races I have a 500ml Coke waiting for me on ice for when I finish. I am an occasional Coke user but I find it's made a huge difference to my post-race recovery.
  20. Athlete in athletic appearance shocker!
  21. Newsflash: Hub uproar over free market pricing!
  22. Road - carbon because it's easier (read: cheaper) to make a lightweight carbon frame. MTB - Alu. Offroad I don't want to be worrying about bashing the frame.
