  1. Having spent time in Perth and Brissie, Brissie wins every time and Patham is on the money. Or GC or Coolangatta or Surfer's Paradise. In fact, the Aussie East Coast just has so much more than Perth does. That said, I do like Perth as I enjoy dry heat and the desert. The fake grass everywhere is a bit weird though.
  2. Hey at least that made all the Kiwis Springbok fans on Saturday night

    Who remembers?

All I'm gonna say is...those FFFFing things. Frayed, stuffed, leaking or just missing whenever you needed one.

    Who remembers?

I was probably a bit late to the game on this one. Was always a grey Zefal, never a white SKS. Tucked along the seatstay.
  5. Just throwing a spoke in here. I've used XTR and XT brakes in the past. I have Level Ultimate or whatever the top SRAM ones are now. They are crap. There's a bike shop here which immediately removes SRAM brakes off every new bike and fits Shimanos in their place before selling the bike. They do this because the hassles of all the comebacks and endless tuning of the SRAM brakes, and unhappy customers, is just not worth it. As a consequence, you can routinely buy new SRAM brakes 'secondhand' for next to nothing.
  6. Her's some bad and ugly. Our prime minister is a blithering idiot who protects sexual abusers. SMH. Plus, she doesn't know what GDP is....
  7. Biggest place you'll ever visit, my china!
  8. 'Tough to live overseas and bite your lip' - you reckon any other culture is going to be thrilled if you pull in and then try tell them that while you are there and everything, their domestic culture isn't better than the one you fled? This palluka clearly tried that on and was surprised when the locals didn't schmaak it so much...hahaha. He ain't going nowhere.
  9. This oke is a classic ********, Kiwis would not have liked him, don't get me wrong
  10. 'Oh that's nothing'. The only mildly dangerous thing we have here is a white tailed spider...from Straya.
  11. This is one of the primary things keeping me out of Aussie! Matey-O.
  12. See you next week, I'm coming!! Nah I would miss too much of NZ and I know it.
  13. Haha- I was born in Marizburg and grew up in Howick. Was in Insinde St in Welties, close to Jim Fouche/JG Strydom intersection... Having been to Pmb a year or 2 ago - man, that place is absolutely shocking. Looks like it's been bombed. So depressing - used to cruise through Alex Park on the way into Take 5 and Crowded House, past the cemetaries on Commercial Road. It's all destroyed now. So sad.
  14. Believe me it is tempting. Can't really swim in the sea there though. Or walk around without some f#cking monstrous thing trying to kill you!
  15. Enjoy! Ya filthy animal, I'm jealous.
  16. While there are a lot of similarities, the folk out on the West Island of New Zealand are just...slightly...off ;-). I'd live in Aussie, especially Brisbane, any time. Love that heat. Struggling a bit with the low temps of August, even after a mild winter (bless you global climate change crisis or whatever they're calling it this week...but please, step it up a bit).
  17. I just need some time on my bike. Was gonna start last weekend but come down with a chest infection. Making for a rough week for me also!
  18. 9 years for us - and it is as you say, sometimes you feel like you've been here all your life. Other times, like yesterday, I wish I was in the warm sun of Johannesburg in my back yard in Weltevreden Park. Emigration is a bit like having kids, I guess. You'll never really be happy again. (With kids, they are either annoying you when they are around, or you miss them terribly within 10 minutes of saying goodbye at school).
  19. How the time flies eh Patches. Think Wayne and fam are probably up for citizenship very soon...and you're not far off either.
  20. Consider buying one privately, use over Dec, resell when done...if you get your wheel and deal on you can get the lot done for next to no money. Or buy a cheap car for visitors to use, do the same thing buy and sell it with 'single use' and go in 2 cars. 8 hundy for 4 days is heavy duty man!
  21. Haha the most remarkable thing about my complete stuff up is that I expected merciless ribbing. Instead, nearly every boatie was like 'sheesh, bad luck, but that's nothing compared to the stuff up I made this one time...
  22. Go with the 'friend with a boat' option, damned things are just holes in the water into which you throw money! Mind you, mine's been pretty good over the last 6 years or so, has only needed a few trailer wheel bearings, petrol and 2-stroke oil, and some spark plugs. Oh, and $200 excess when I crashed it into the rocks coming over the bar after dark and caused $10 000 worth of damage!
  23. To appreciate Auckland properly, you need a boat. (Source: have boat, spent 2 years exploring the Hauraki Gulf. It is something special launching at Orakei and checking out the local islands, or from Kawakawa Bay a bit South, or from Gulf Harbour a bit north). I did CT by boat also, sailed for a bit out of the Royal Cape Yacht Club. Also spectacular, would say CT is the prettier city what with that mountain thingy you guys have down there, but AKL from the water would be pretty hard to beat.
  24. I have a decramastic roof which needs replacing...asbestos in the glue. I'd rip the whole shebang off in a few hours. But....WORKSAFE. Dang! Hey there's an ugly! And oh boy what a dog, too.
  25. Yepit is pretty long, 40k per day...could be a big ask for such littlies.
