  1. Along with what's starting to feel like an endless winter ha ha
  2. When I visited in Jan-March, I was told just this. The houses in my old neighbourhood (weltevreden park) are being marketed for roughly the same price (maybe +10-15%) as when I left 8 years ago...
  3. Cheeky questions Dave - where are the properties and what price range? Trying to gauge the market....
  4. You're ready for this. Kiwis say 'yea' or 'yeh' or 'yip yip yip' a lot.... ;-)
  5. Congrats. Wellington is a beautiful city and not too expensive, you can still get a nice pozzie there for well under a mil. And Welly is adjacent to the top of the South Island which gives you awesome opportunities to explore the Marlborough Sounds, Picton, Blenheim, Nelson, Motueka etc. Enjoy the ride.
  6. Congrats Hayley welcome to the club!
  7. Shot Patches - will def go smaller and lighter to get started. And also second hand because I am cheap
  8. I do like a good old 2-stroke, the only one I have now is my 3.3 litre V6 direct injection boat motor. Far more torque than a 4 stroke and nice n simple, too...
  9. There is also a ferry from Gulf Harbour into the city; this makes the whole Whangaparaoa Peninsula a viable option, including some very desirable 'burbs like Arkles Bay, Stanmore Bay, Army Bay, Manly, etc etc. If Mrs is heading to Taka and you're going to city, this would make a lot of sense. Ferry is like a mini cruise, coffee and toasted zarm in the morning, beer on the way home... Plenty IT companies in Albany/North Shore area; quite a number of disties, through to resellers, software outfits, etc.
  10. I used to bus into the city from Whangaparaoa - also loved it, napped on the bus, or read, or whatever. Definitely way better, cheaper and faster than driving. And if you ride the same buses at the same times, you make plenty new friends.
  11. This is true. It is both a blessing and a curse...
  12. Takapuna is one of the most desirable suburbs on the north shore and very handy to Mairangi Bay/Browns Bay. You could consider anywhere from Northcote all the way through to Whangaparaoa as viable options for a pozzie. We lived in Silverdale/Red Beach for a couple years, very nice up there. Gulf Harbour probably a bit far. Bus networks very good that side, if you find a place close to a bus station (less than a km) walking then riding the bus a viable option to get to work. Plenty school options in the area, Takapuna itself has some top ones. ANd whatever offices the Mrs is in in Taka, it is handy to the bus network....
  13. Awesome Patch, thanks for that. I rode a lot of road motorbikes and have always had my brakes set up 'moto style' since the beginning, so brakes wouldn't be an issue. I am kinda keen to get a dirt bike , and my Mrs is intrigued too...
  14. How NZ is this - LOL https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12075632
  15. I've never really ridden a dirt bike - how easily do MTB skills transfer to a mud scooter?

    Who remembers?

That Mazda 323 looks old even when it was brand new...

    Who remembers?

We all grew up thinking Ernest Borgnine was only ever in Airwolf...
  18. This, and the Mach Loop, are two things I should like to do before signing out. Tragedy every year, though. Very sad with Dan Kneen and Steve Mercer critical.

The wisdom of the hub comes to bear again. Gosh the good old days hey. What a time and place to be alive - I always remember feeling useless and worthless as a lightie in SA, especially when checking those fake adverts for fake crap in the back of DC comics (you know what I mean, for Sea Monkeys and see through specs) and just desperately wanted to be grown up and escaped from that prison of youth. Now look. Careful what you wish for eh.

    Yep I had that problem.

I always schmaaked those Corolla RSis. My first cabbie was a 1988 silver VW Fox which I got after swearing off motorbikes - first bike was a 1981 Suzuki GSX 750, then a 1986 Yamaha FJ1100. Dangerous things. Then when I got my second cabbie, it was a toss up between a metallic greenish coloured RSi or a white 1998 BMW 318iS. Went for the Beemer and pretty much had Beemer's ever since...

Flippin classic...I remember seeing Brad out jolling at that cow place in Fourways (Vache something or another) and also seeing Lara Plumstead out at Slippery n Wet. I used to work with Plumstead when she was marketing manager at Tarsus Technologies - I wrote their press releases. She was totally up herself even before Big Brother. And remember Brad started a political party called 'TOP' - The Organisation Party (how kiff bru is that - bru you better be careful, that's not a threat, it's a promise).
  23. Fully - cost of living here is pretty extreme.
  24. After you've told them how fat they are, you probably are going to send them running!!!
  25. He's smarter than that
