  1. My question. How many kids have been killed while towed behind a bicycle vs the number of kids killed in car accidents because they weren't strapped in? If I look at the number of small kids still standing on the front seat I think that the government are ignoring the bigger, unsolved issues while wasting time with smaller bylaws.
  2. 5. Whatever you do, resist the temptation to touch it with your tongue(really saw this warning on a product, must be for the Americans)
  3. That is the only way to meet new men. Also, at least I can differentiate between the true gentle souls who cares about women and the rest... lol
  4. I have been using both race king and mountain king without any issues for 2 years now. Know of someone else who has been having endless problems with beading coming off new tyres
  5. Also watch out for dogs. Got chased by one going pass the farm house 2 years ago.
  6. Hardtail - Front left, rear right. Softy - the other way around. Strongly considering standardising it as I often grab a hand full of the wrong brake...

    Argus crashes

I was the victim of a crash that happened between Ocean view and Noordhoek. Women stopped in the middle of the road(on a downhill) without warning. Guy in front of me crashed into her and I landed on the pile. Instead of finishing the race I spend the rest of the day in the medics tent and casualty. Fractured radius and ulna. Her excuse for stopping? "I was just looking for someone behind me"
  8. You guys are super organised. I battle to remember helmet, sunglasses, shoes, bicycle, tube, multitool. Frequently forget at least two of the above...
  9. It was fantastic to just spin the legs after a lot of pushing on Saterday. Riding crazy croc the day before made the river crossings look like childs play.
  10. Agreed. I've compared the geometry of different brands and for some the geometry of a medium male bike is exactly the same as a small women spesific. The best way to choose the best bike is to test ride as many different brands and types as possible and see which is most comfortable for you.
  11. Sweet, sweet smell of a successful stir
  12. Nationalisation will solve problems related to access to private property...
  13. Let's just say it was almost as slow and careful as my riding
  14. Suggestions?
  15. This is your second post with spelling mistakes. Does that mean that you should refrain from using electronic equipment(or English) because you can't use a keyboard to its full or possibly even half its potential?
  16. How can going for a mtb ride be compared to going for a driving test? It was not like he was trying to do the Tour de France.
  17. Guy gets off his expensive bike, ask if the entire route is like this and when told that it gets more technical he says that he is leaving(in strong language). Sounds to me like someone who realised the route is more technical than what he can manage. What was he supposed to do? Pretend he can ride it and hold up everyone else trying to ride the trail? Then someone would have posted about unskilled and slow riders that spoil the trails for the fast riders. What does the price of his bike have to do with anything? I ride a R30 000+ bike. I bought it because I like it and enjoy riding it. Does the fact that I'm not the best rider mean that I can't have the best bike I can afford?
  18. I've not had great experiences with their. Promised to phone back and never did. In order to get someone's attention you have to rugby tackle them. Went in yesterday to look for an indoor trainer. Sadly no-one available to help me. Very sad as I also saw shoes at good prices and would have bought a pair(women and shoes...). Went elsewhere, got great service and now got a indoor trainer to play with. I know they are very popular and busy. Maybe employ more people to assist? They might be even more busy if people like me don't walk out and shop elsewhere. I don't like begging people to take my hard earned money.
  19. Based on this thread I decided to give Linden another try as I have not been overly impressed in the past. After today my opinion remains unchanged. Sometimes I wonder whether it is the fact that I don't have an athletic appearance or because I'm female that I'm not being considered an important customer.
  20. I'm supposed to do the lite. Only started riding this week since tearing my achilles 7 weeks ago(partial tear) . Moon boot only came off last week. Hope I will be ready in time. Planning to try day 1 and decide from there whether to continue or not. If I only do day 1 it will be the most expensive 21km ride ever
  21. Cleats are nerve wrecking in the early days. After a while of cycling showing of your bruises actually becomes a bit of a fashion statement. A year or so ago I got my first road bike and decided to ride without cleats till I get used to it. Thing is I was used to riding mtb with cleats. I almost fell off my roadbike because my feet wouldn't stay in the right place on the pedals. Take some time getting used to, but once you are used to cleats you will never look back!
  22. It's Cajees... This pretty much lives up to my expectations of them. A shop that rips of people, especially the ones that don't know much about prices etc.
  23. Both mountainbikes covered. Can't afford to replace either of them cash. Road bike an old second hand bike. Don't feel it's worth spending the money on insurance. Don't ride it often anyway.
  24. This is not only a boy problem. I also fib from time-to-time about my cycling spend. Recently a friend told me about an ostrich handbag for R35 000 and I said: "and then people give me funny looks for spending that on a bike?!" She gave me a funny look
  25. Men look at me a bit funny when I don't shave my legs
