  1. Bye bye lovin, bye bye... I know I'm gonna die, Good bye my love, good bye
  2. The problem is this: the moment you make something too cheap, it starts inviting all kinds of elements you don't want present when you hike and bike. Just have a look at municipal properties that is for free and not controlled. It's full of building rubble, vagrants and you have a good chance of being attacked in those areas. I have said this in a similar thread on the hub before: You can't put a price on safety
  3. Some parents don't learn. This reminds me of an incident when I was still working in a children's ward. 2 year old girl admitted after car accident. Abrasions to her forehead and face which had to be taken care of in theatre(she might have scars for the rest of her life). She was also kept overnight to make sure that she does not have any underlying head injuries. Following day before discharge the paediatrician asks the parents if they will now please buckle her up in future. The idiotic father's answer: "but doctor, we can't. She cries when we put her in her car seat" FOR GOODNESS SAKE! Your child got given a second chance, and you don't have the balls to be a responsible father and buckle her up. So if this man's child wants to play with a poisonous snake, he will probably allow that too! I saw kids die and others left with brain damage after accidents when they weren't buckled in. So unecessary...
  4. I don't mind. Any good looking males welcome to cycle. Helps to keep me motivated. Just make peace with the fact that I will look and if worth it even
  5. I used to use hang-on. Stopped doing that when I got my carbon. Was then doing "flattening of seats, remove front wheel and bike in car" thing for a while. Got the Euroway 2 months ago. Got a towbar fitted specially for that purpose and would never look back. 3 bike rack would be a bit easier if you carrying 2 bikes. The removable arms of the Euroway also make it much easier to fit your bikes especially if you are fitting more than one. Lockable arm great plus. As a lady I find it light and easy to lift and have no difficulty on getting bike and rack on and off the car. Hang-on and bike in the car has both caused damage to car in the past.
  6. Thanks for the replies. I will give Silverstar a shot. Closer to home as well
  7. How does these 2 races compare? I see Silverstar has the highest number of entries. Risk of congestion?
  8. Mountainbike housing estate? Sounds like heaven! Cool idea
  9. Up to you if you want to pay it or risk riding alone in JHB. Lady riding on my own? I can't put a price on safety...
  10. Question: How many people that voted yes own a wetsuit and voted no don't? My guess is that the lucky ones that own one mostly voted yes and people like me that don't own a wetsuit would probably not want it to be legalised.
  11. Whatever...
  12. Comfort. I shop untill I find the helmet that fits properly and comfortably. I had a nasty dive over my handle bars in December, did a faceplant on a rock and heard the most awfull cracking sound. Though I fractured my jaw and was suprised to only have a few abrasions to my face. Later realised the cracking sound came from my helmet and that a well fitted helmet protected even the areas in my face not covered by my helmet. I would therefore advise anyone to get the helmet with the best fit, extra few hundred rands worth it.
  13. The best way would be to try the different helmets on. E.g. A lot of people swear by Bell. I've tried several Bell helmets and they all caused pressure on the same spot on my head. Rudy was the most comfortable for me.
  14. Take them all for a test ride and see which one is the most comfortable for you. Some people may differ from me, but if all of them provide a similar ride take the one that looks best. I want a mtb in my garage that's got 'take me for a ride written all over it' Everyone has got their favourate. I got the GT Avalanche 2 years ago and it is still delivering very good service.
  15. Geez, you guys with your low weight remind me that I need to lose some. Let's just say I've got a very strong pair of legs.
  16. I shave my legs because most men don't like hairy women

    Buycycle

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I bought a bike from them last year and their service was great. They also did follow up calls checking whether I received my delivery in order and another one checking that I was happy with the bike. I also called several times before I made the puchase with 110 questions and they always responded very well.
  18. I thought for this type of race you would have a lot of metro's and police present to protect the riders. If this was properly done the reckless drivers should have been arrested!!!
  19. Have a look at www.crankrevolution.co.za. I did a basic skills clinic with them and it made a huge difference to my riding skills
  20. I will be doing the anti-rain dance till Sunday morning. Not good friends with mud. Also want to take my new toy for the ride but don't want to expose it to too much mud yet...
  21. My first buy at buycylcle continued... Received an e-mail Tuesday yesterday to say my bicycle has been shipped with the details of courier company and weighbill number. Bicycle delivered this morning. In summary: Placed order Sunday night - Bike delivered wednesday. If there after service is also this good I would use them again without thinking twice. WHERE'S THE WEEKEND? I'VE GOT A NEW TOY!!!!
  22. Good luck with reseeding based on one race. I tried last year without any luck. Just managed to fustrate myself by trying to tell people why it is considered good manners to respond to e-mails and to follow up on promises. This year I will just start where ever they place me.
  23. I asked the same question recently and everyone gave them a very good review. E-mailed and phoned them several times last week with questions about product and service and they replied promptly and were very helpful. Ordered my Volcan last night. Received confirmation of successful order this morning. Will let you know how the rest of the story goes... Can't wait to get my new toy!
  24. Has anyone bought a bicycle or any large order from them. I'm looking at hot bike at the moment, but it will be a very expensive mistake if something goes wrong with the order.
