  1. Hi All, Does anyone know if the SS6 channel is available on the drifta? I'm thinking of getting a drifta to watch TDF at work, but its kinda pointless if SS6 isn't on there...
  2. I'm checking with my friend of mine who works at youngsfield if she can arrange something for us... I guess the other question is would the guys be prepared to pay to use the facility e.g. R15 like they charge at Killarney
  3. Youngsfield sounds like a great idea. I think my friends wife works there and she could find out for us. I however need to see who else would be interested? Could we get some of the local club guys, i.e., Star Interior, Giants, MCC, etc to all and ride together or is there too much politics
  4. Hi All, I've been going to Killarney the last couple of weeks and loving the training but it's becoming quite a schlep to trek there every Tuesday. I would therefore like to know the following: Is there anywhere in Southern Suburbs where this type of training is happening? If not, who would be interested joining if we got this setup in Southern Suburbs? Anyone have an idea of what would be required to set this up? Recommendations for location? I've heard rumours of guys doing this in Ottery? Thanks, Saudiq
  5. as previous hubbers stated you need to have this assessed by a proper specialist. I started DC training last year and I had excruciating pain doing some of my rides; I then rested and went to a physio all of which just costed me 3 weeks of training. I then went to see Dr Jeroen Swart and he did an assessment and it turned out to be a number of things, the main one being that the person who did my initial ergofit had my measurements wrong. The other issues were things like muscle imbalances, weak hip abductors, differences in my femur etc. After he did the setup again about 90% of the pain was eliminated. I still get a bit of pain but that's my own fault for not stretching the muscle and continuing with my muscle strengthening exercises.
  6. It doesn't get that busy in Summer, usually around 4 bikes (mine included sometimes lol)
  7. Hi All, I'm looking for a tried and tested substitute for shimano mineral oil that I can use. I need to adjust the brake pads as the previous owner fitted new pads without setting the gap correctly. Any advise would be appreciated...
  8. sale-bikes.com is definitely not legit! they asking you to deposit money into their account. Jangabikes seems a lot more legit. They have website verification and you're able to make payment via paypal but at a surcharge of 10%. Go with your gut though, if the prices seems to good then don't take the chance... I learnt this very hard lesson but not trusting my gut and then I got ripped off
  9. Hi, Try Maryke as well! She done some fantastic work with me! I've been cycling for 7 years and always finished in the middle of the O group, but with her help I was able to do a 2:50 in the Burger and that was a week after DC! I've also moved up 6 groups. I highly recommend her and so does fellow hubbers
  10. I had/have the same issue, my cause were my left leg is about 2cm longer than my right and I have weak hip abductors. I originally had my ergofit done by Renay but it was tweak by jeroen last week and its made a massive difference! I was able to do 150km absolutely painfree on Sunday and 3 weeks ago I could barely manage 40km! I was also told to keep away from the big gears and spin in the lighter gears, unfortunately I did some sprint work on tuesday in the big gears and now I feel a bit of pain again. My own stupidity!
  11. Hearts, I highly recommend contacting maryke on the hub and get her to design a program specially for you. With her program I have gone from being an absolutely terrible climber and sprinter to someone who not can keep up on the hills but also outclimb just about everyone in my group. I've also been able to drop my seeding from O to J. These generic programs are ok, but why not make the best of your time and get really strong with her help
  12. I've discovered that my left leg is 2cm longer than my right when i went for my bike setup
  13. 8 MONTHS? Holy crap, I think I'll be suicidal if I had to stay off my bike for that long
  14. I'm trying to eliminate the bike setup as being on of the possible causes and as far as I know this has now been ruled out. I will do the bunkie test and based on my assessment with Jeroen work on my weak areas and I'm sure there will be many
  15. Thanks for the reply. I've had my ergofit bike setup done by Renay and after the ITBS i took the bike back to him to double check everything for me. I have pronation and to compensate for this I was instructed to insert some wedges and it seems Renay got the calculation wrong. He told me to insert 2 wedges initially and when he double checked the setup he told me it should've been 1. I've been to a physio who realised the fascia but it doesn't seems to have worked, I'm now going to see Jeroen Swart on Thursday for him to assess my bike setup again.
  16. The only thing I can think of is I started doing lots of strength work on my legs in order for me to increase my speed on the bike and I've been doing lots of core work. I've stopped the strength work besides lunges which my physio instructed me to do.
  17. I've been focussing on the glutes by doing squats and lunges. I've improved my squats from 60 kilos at the start of the winters to now being able to squat 135kilos...
  18. Interesting theory, she seems to be really clued up, at this stage I'm willing to do whatever it takes
  19. I have to admit that I'm extremely bad with my stretching regime, most times I shortcut my training by giving up my stretching and I realise that is probably the reason why I have ITB issues. That said I doubt my hammies are to short as I'm able to reach about 8cm over my toes. I will however try proper rest for the next 2 weeks
  20. Thanks, I've heard about the foam rollers as well. I'm going to see if I can get some today as I'm willing to try just about anything to get rid of this condition
  21. No, I've been cycling for 7 years and I was cycling about 6 days a week from October last year up until the Argus with Zero issues and absolutely pain free. I however focussed allot on my strength training in gym during winter and only did mountain biking on a Sunday for 3 hours
  22. HI All, I've was diagnosed with having ITBS by a physio about 2 weeks ago. I went for treatment, she also asked me to do stretches as well as lunges for 2 weeks, which i did 90% of the time. I then went for a ride on Sunday and at 70 km i was unable to continue due to the ITB pain. I also had a Ergofit bike setup done a while back and I had this checked again to verify that something wasn't wrong with the setup. We then found that I had 1 too many wedges in and the extra 1 was removed. I need some advice on getting over this very frustrating condition? I'm also supposed to be doing my 1st DC but with this problem i doubt i'll be ready for it...
  23. I had the ErgofitMax done with Renay which included using flexibility testing where my riding style, etc was taken into account. What he then did was stick me on the bike and checked the angles at the hip and knee as well as elbows. I can't complain about the results, I'm very comfortable on my current bike. The reason for this post however was to find out if I did switch to a bike with a slightly longer top tube, would I be able to get the same results, i.e., be just as comfortable on the bigger bike. I do however agree with you that the 'plug and play' methods are not always accurate, my dad also had the Ergofit done with Renay and his seat always looked to low and also felt to low for him. he recently raised his saddle 2cm and now is very happy with the bike. To answer some of your questions above, I'm a healthy 31 year old male with a blend of chunky and muscled but working on getting lean. I used to ride just for fun but now I ride to try and win my group so I can improve my seedings.
