  1. Rode one on Monday. Very keen on this as well.
  2. It might only be Skynet SA that's bad. Skynet Germany, for instance, could be great.
  3. At the back of the peloton the door was wide open. People were getting dropped out of the peloton chasing Jungle Bob. Bora and Jumbo guys did their work, and then dropped off. If they were chasing slowly you wouldn't see that. Peloton was down to 32 riders. 69 riders finished.
  4. ironthrone @ harties cableway?
  5. Jainism? Buddhism? There were vegetarians 2500 years ago.
  6. It could be argued that food storage (grains and salted meat) are why we were more successful than the other apes. It could also be argued that diet adapted to circumstance (exercise, and environment.) More exercise needed more protein, and a diet in the arctic likely contains much more fat than a diet in the tropics. It's very likely that we have gene expressions that activate under harsh conditions and change our dietary requirements. "Harsh" could be starvation, extreme temperature, or just exercising 40 hours a week. So what does the average couch potato in a moderate climate (or heated / cooled house) need? That's what most of the research tries to answer.
  7. I supertucked on the indoor trainer this morning and managed to crash it. The sweat towel fell off.
  8. Roadies have to practice skills too. Braking and cornering and descending are skills that need to be learned and practised and not banned. Do you want your first emergency stop to be to avoid a car, or to learn how to do it?
  9. This is also the attitude that will ban riding no-handed, and ban all the fun bits in MTB races.
  10. Easy. Absolutely under no circumstances: engage brainproof readwait to be sober
  11. I've had exactly that. Something in the shirt pocket got stuck on the piece of plastic that holds the saddle rails to the saddle nose. Brown pant time.
  12. Probably, yes. He chopped them up, though. Canyon wants to avoid people selling on the old (broken) frames, so you need to either send them back or chop them up. Chopping up is cheaper than shipping. It's common practice in the industry. Sometimes you have to chop up the BB separately and send that back. It usually has a stamped serial number.
  13. Sitting on the TT is done while trying to win. Throwing the bike is done while trying to lose.
  14. I can turn that around: Stop trying to justify banning something on a pro bike that is common for a pro.
  15. I understand. I'm also illustrating how these things normally go with the UCI. Before they can prove it's support they'll need to put a pressure sensor in your chamois. You can't use this rule as written to ban it unless the rider does it the majority of the time. If you could use this rule to ban it, you can use this rule to ban putting your knee against the top tube to steer.
  16. Searched for "load", couldn't find it in the document. Doesn't matter, it also says "normally assume", so it says nothing about "occasional assume." Also doesn't matter because they'll go back the to the French or Swiss document if it comes up for a dispute. And your quoted document still bans disc brakes, so that one is out of date...
  17. So does 1.3.008 ban riding out of the saddle? Or stretching your quad by putting your foot on the saddle?
  18. DieseInDust claimed the aero tuck is pretty new. I'm claiming it's not new. I'm offering proof of my claim.
  19. Hmm, I've been doing it for 20 years. I've been trying to find early youtube footage to prove it's much older, so far: Andy Shleck, 2011: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SK7Jho67a-E Sammy Sanchez, 2011, same video Vino, 2005, Botero, 2005, (off the front of the saddle, no weight on tt)Vino, 2007, off to work now I'm sure earlier videos can be found.
  20. You're missing the point that sitting on the top tube is and has been normal for racers for decades. It is using the bike as intended. I've been sitting on the top tube for longer than Canyon has been making bikes.
  21. I've been sitting on the top tube on descents for the last 20 years, on Giant, Cervelo, Trek, Specialized, Bianchi... When did this become abnormal?
  22. rear wheel looks full of yellow stickers. mavic neutral wheel?
  23. WADA has drawn a second line: the TUE line. Substances that you're allowed to take, but must ask permission for. You agree to this line too. That line says that there are valid reasons to take certain medications. When your well being requires the drug, and you can justify that, you're allowed to take the drug. One such reason is diabetes. If you can prove you have diabetes, you are allowed to take insulin. If you don't have diabetes, you're not allowed to take insulin. I don't feel right telling a diabetic: if you want to ride your bike, you must stop with your insulin injections. I think a diabetic should be allowed to live his life, and it's great that medical science now allows for that. (there are actually two TUE lines: acute and chronic)
  24. I'm trying to illustrate that there are illnesses that need treatmentthe point of any treatment is to bring you back to normal (not supernormal) -- or as normal as possible. You should be able to live a normal life.the sport has rules for treating illnesses (TUEs)
