Another question. Can i use normal WB Castrol grease or should i get Marine grease? I heard and read Everon grease is good.

Good day. Im busy overhauling my rear wheel. I just got new cone nuts and see they slightly longer (different size but still same in diameter). Im also putting in new ball bearings. My question now is: Is there any reason why i cant use different cone nuts and slightly smaller bearings? Attach is the images. In the bearing cup there was 9 1/4" bearing per side. I test the smaller bearings and see it takes 10 of the smaller ones per side. Any feedback will be highly appreciated.

What about Siguaro's 2.2 rear and Ardents 2.25 front for all round setup?

Looks aggressive. My Zippering 2.2 doesnt look so aggressive. Hehe, im sold on the Siguaro's. Will be ordering soon.

Im not fit. I do trail running but battling with my knee and are forced to take it easy. Ive never done an ultra or any big event. This will be my first and im the crazy type who like to push my limits. Training is about 100-150km per week. Time is limited due to work and i can only manage to squeeze in 60km then its dark and i stil have energy to go longer. Everyday train 25-40km per day with climbing included.

Im not very picky when it comes to tyres. My budget is R400 per ryre (cant belive im paying more then my Yaris's 14"). Im buying now and dont wanna buy again, i still have about 70- 80% on my chaoyang zippering's. Between the Siguaro's and Ardents, what would be my best bet for all round?

Oh and R60 at my LBS to install the BB because i dont have the tools. All other tools like chainwhip etc i made myself and build everything self to cut the costs.

Hi guys. With the TipTrans Cerderberg arount the corner im looking to buy new tyres. What will be a good tyre? I'm leaning towards the Maxxis Ardents 2.25 UST/LUST Tubeless. Just saw at CWCYCLES the Vittoria Saguaro on special but only in 2.20. Feedback appreciated. Oh and im entered for the 115km ultra.

Just finished my project. Upgraded my entry level Silverback to 1x11 using Lyne Crank and Shimano XT SLX parts. This thing can climb anything you throw at it.

Local is lekke. Had my Lyne crank shipped to me in less then 2days after ordering. Happy chappie.

Received my Lyne Pulse today. Excellent service fron Dayle. When ordering online you can ask that the bb can be swapped with presfit bb at no extra cost.

Would that be the M8000?

Thank you all for your input. Looks like i will have to get to spend more and get the XT shifter. I ride alot of uneven trails where im constantly shifting running up and down my gears. 2/3 gears per click would be sweet.

So my entry level Silverback Spectra Comp has gotton an 1x11 drivetrain uograde. Lyne Pulse 32t crank and BB, Shimano M7000 SLX rear derailleur, Sram 11spd 1130chain, Shimano SLX 11-42t casette. I cant decide on what shifter to use. Im stuck between XT M8000 and SlX M7000. CWcycles has a good deal on SLX shifters for R550 and a friend wanna sell his XT for R700 secondhand. Any help would be appreciated. Also i need to replace my freehub. Anything you can advice? Im using Alex Rims Dp23.

Thank you Philip. I will look at replacing the bearings as the guy from the bike shop mention same thing. The hub has been clean and regrease as there was water in it. I just just thought of completely replace the freehub.

Thank you for the feedback. I was told when i had the bike serviced that i need to replace the freewheel hub anytime soon. Im planning on get it replaced with a hub that can take the 10spd cassette.

Good morning guys, About 3 months ago i picked up a secondhand Silverback Spectra Comp 29er. i got it for R4500, still in new condition and had just finished the jb2c. The bike is allready upgraded to tubeless and aftermarket Alexrims DP23 (i know its not the best but its better than the stock wheels). It runs on Shimano Alivio & Altus groupset 3x9. Overall im very happy as it also have a airshock. Im not a mountain biker and got the bike due to not being able to run anymore (runners knee, ITB Syndrome). Im looking to upgrade only the groupset to Shimano Deore M610 2x10. Before i do that i want to know if this is advisable and can i go ahead with it? Getting ready for the Karoo2Coast (my first race). Any feedback apreciated. Not looking to buy a new bike as i will be back doing trail running next year. Also any other advice on upgrading? Regards
