  1. Hi Richard, I was offered a spot today for the Adventure - I think I am your new partner (You riding with the Super Group guys right?). Will give you a shout First thin in the morning.
  2. OPTION B!ALL THE WAY. i HAVE RACE KINGS ON MY 29ER & I HAVE DONE OVER 3000KMS WITH THEM.MOST OF IT OFF ROAD,BUT I HAVE DONE A FAIR DEAL OF RIDING ON THE ROAD.I DONE THE 94.7 S WITH THEM & THEY WENT WELL.NOT A SINGLE PUNCTURE & LAST REALLY LONG
  3. YOU CANT GO WRONG WITH CONTI!I HAVE DONE ABOUT 2500KMS WITH MINE IN ROUGH TERRAIN & NOT A SINGLE FLAT.
  4. 3 naughty monkeys broke into my house a year ago & stole some cycling shirts which I had mounted on the wall. They also went into my room & stole my cycling socks.Flippin chops...........luckily they didnt touch the pony
  5. I have the following experience,Dunno if it will come in handy: . I was involved in the re-introduction & tracking of White Rhino in Northern Kruger . Trails guide & guide in Northern Kruger for 2 years. . Ran cycling safaris through Mashatu Game Reserve Botswana for 2 years. . I have a diploma in conservation . Fgasa level 2 trails guide. I will be happy to help if I can.
  6. They are selling them at Due South,Cape Union Mart & all those kind of shops.Sorry I think I had a lisdexic mistake on the 410 lumens - it is 140 lumens.I dont think there are handlebar mounts available but you can angle the headlight,it comes with a sturdy swivel mechanism. Gona test it out next weekend at the 24 hour race at Rietvlei
  7. The rechargeable one is going for R499.
  8. Last night I done a ride with a LED Lenser light & I was pretty impressed with its performance even compared to the Majicshine lights. I have the rechargeable light which charges fully in around 1 hour & after riding for 2 hours last night on full light intensity, there was no sign of battery failure. On full intensity the light puts out a claimed 410 lumens. The quality of the light is also really good & it is covered with a 1 year warranty.I also found that the light fits nicely over the helmet,it is light & it doesnt shake around much even on the hairy downhills. I think it is the way to go especially if you are not willing to empty your pocket out on a light.
  9. hey tintin sounds like you guys had a great ride.i would have joined you guys if it werent for the 94.7. if you guys do this again i am super keen to join!
  10. I had the exact problem with my Niner. The creak was pretty loud,so i tried all of the above. The answer to the problem is a small ammount of normal grease.Copper slip dries out pretty quick.I put some Park Tool grease & made sure the clamp was nice & tight & that solved my problem.
  11. I am not too sure how guys can comment on this topic, if they have not ridden on a 29er.If they have & still feel that 29' is a marketing fade I would doubt that they were being honest. I had a 26'for 5 years & thought it was the bees knees.I then tried a 29er & I can honestly say I find it much better than a 26',but hey thats just my opinion.
  12. I reckon the way to go if you dont want to spend too much on a light or if you occasionally ride at night is the LED Lenser. It is pretty bright,it is rechargeable & the battery life if pretty good too plus you can use it for what ever else you want to do in the dark.
  13. I have the Red ones.Very cool bar ends, dodnt know why KCNC cost so much more, pretty much the same thing.Be sure to get some end caps for your bars as the bar ends do not come with caps.I think they are money well spent
  14. a Pic of my Niner
  15. Hey Guys I have got both a Scandal & a EMD.I have also done a number of builds with both brands. They are both awesome brands with great quality & fantastic geometry.I think the Scandal is great value for money but I must say I find the EMD in a league of its own.Niner really has the geometry dialled in & just excells at anything you throw at it. As for the RST fork,I swear by it & use it on most of 29ers I build & even on my own bikes. For the price you pay,you cant go wrong.I dont Know if 600grams is worth a extra 2.5K?Plus the Rst is really easy to work on & the parts a very well priced.I actually find the RSTs provide a really comfy ride & instill confidence to hit some pretty Knarly terrain plus the remote lock out works really well.
  16. I will agree with you 100 %.I think the Scandal frames are great value for money & provide a really comfy ride that comes nicely together with the geometry & build quality.I have done 3 custom builds with these bikes & I must say they are a close second choice to my Niner. Just make sure that you get the vertical drop out if you are plan to go the geared route. Pity Scandal has stopped with the anodized frames.
  17. VIVA LA BEEG REVOLUTION!
  18. You can add a route to the Edge Pretty cool what it does with the route.the Edge can draw a map as well as a profile of the coarse. It will tell you if you are going off coarse, how much further to go,time to go,show a profile graph& bread crumb trail. If you have saved a coarse from a previous ride, you can use it as a virtual partner,it will tell you how your ride is comparing to the original ride.
  19. WHOOOOOHOOOOO! I managed to get a course onto my Edge & with the latest software update,it works beautifully. You need to go onto mapmyride & import the coarse onto the site.Once you have done this,go to 'my rides' and click on the coarse which you have added. You now need to view the map of the coarse. At the top of the map on the left you will see the toolbox.Click on tools I think it is & you will see 'import to Garmin'Click on this & save a tcx file. Now connect your Edge to GTC & import the file into the courses folder. Now simply hit export & bob is your uncle.
  20. Hey Guys Dunno if anyone can help me out. I have just got a Garmin Edge 500 about a week ago, very cool little gadget. I am having difficulty on importing a route onto the GPS though. I have a marked out route in a gps format but cant seem to load it on using training centre? I have started fidling with MapMyRide. Thanks guys
  21. Ok that is good news.does the package get delivered to my adress or do I need to go and collect it at the nearest post office?
  22. hey guys I bought some porn from CRC last week Sunday & like a stupid Charlie i didn't pay attention to the postage options & selected the economy option.with this option there is no online tracking.I received a mail from the guys at CRC the following Tuesday saying the goodies have been shipped. How long does this economy option take usually & do they also deliver your parcel to your door as with the other options? online tracking just puts the mind at ease & is the way to go.
  23. I GOT IT FROM CRC,SO WITH VAT & STUFF IT SHOULD COST AROUND R2700 GIVE OR TAKE
  24. The temptation got the better of me. I bought a Garmin Edge 500 HR & CAD bundle for R2200 from CRC. This is an expensive hobby. Thanks for all the suggestions.
