  1. Can anybody help this oke? https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/132302-calling-all-propeller-heads-what-is-this-the-replica-of/
  2. 2 tubes, 4 bombs, man size pump, 5x speed links, multitool, instant patches, plug kit, duct tape, 2 bananas, 2 jungle oats bars, shock pump, cash & credit card, cell phone Since you don't doing a mtb stage race What i really carry: 1x tube 1x bomb & adapter 1x mini pump presta to shrader converter self adhesive patches speed link money tire levers phone quite a bit of food more recently (normally a banana or 2, jungle oats bar, jellies) You can use a wrapper to make a gator if you need to get home but a bit of duct tape seems like a good idea, think i'll pop some on the pump
  3. Caerus - price around, last time i called all the shops in JHB when i was looking for MTB shoes for the gf (they don't bring in ladies S-Works if you ever looking, you'll need to import), even the free state. Sometimes they have the shoes and are willing to ship cheaper as they don't get as much foot traffic and their overheads are less. JC - try contact ASG directly, i eventually got for my old Sidi road shoes @ a 94.7 expo.
  4. I have Spez road and MTB shoes, love them. I found the Sidi a "narrow" fit & price wise, they not much cheaper. Choice between S-Works or Pro is stiffness factor difference of 2 so are you willing to pay round 1k more for the S-works branding and stiffer shoe? I did Pedals, if you like a tight foot to pedal feel, i say go Look S-Track, they under R900 (even seen new for R700) and they lighter than Shimano, no external springs to lube, they take hits on rocks very well & don't bend like cooking utensils. & they look pimp
  5. I've only ridden Schwalbe I've slashed a Ralph sidewall (back wheel) thru water and @ 3T i punctured (i clipped a klippie) descending. Other than that they seem to last forever All 26" stuff so 2.25 is the only place i get a bit more volume
  6. Sucks dude, hope you ok! Maybe post a pic here so guys don't need to surf thru 60 odd pages? Interesting, a Chinese frame might be the way to go since it's unique & harder to offload for the punks.
  7. If it's an internal encased section, i'd say warranty! Unless SkillZ was testing his limits at VG & 3T
  8. Came across this company, anybody looked at their stuff or considered buying from them? Mostly wheels http://www.farsports.cn
  9. This will be my 12th consecutive, mail sent, will see what they come back with. You normally get the colour striping for 10+ & the MTB race back to back @ registration. I've asked for a specific special number, let's see if they do something funky for me On numbers, i really hope we don't get those crappy stick on things like they gave us last year #EpicFail!
  10. Love FUN Gaalens, while the markings aren't always top notch, grab a map from the carpark dude & go have some fun, try not to get too lost. We started off by doing the Greek Church area, there's some really kewl single track out and back. Depends on how technical you are and what you like to ride
  11. Try get hold of Brad890 he might have or be shipping
  12. Had an awesome 3T, bit bleek waking up on day 3 realising this is the last ride before heading home. Had some skills failure on day 3, fortunately no Mikon farming for me. Leon - thanks for putting the hurt box away 2km away from the finish, next year i think i need to make you bleed day 2 Mackie - Told Rouxtjie to carry a flask for you boet, i'm sure if he said "swaar, ek het die bottel, daars ys kou coke bo" day 2's tower would've been a record climb time Glad the boys all made it home safely, seems 90% of us were on antibiotics the week before towers! Suprised at how many more teams did the challenge over the race. You SS okes are mal!
  13. Very nice, awesome to see peeps taking on different projects HUGE thumbs up!
  14. There's been a lot of jackings there, think they also have a good visibility and can hide nicely in the bushes, haven't been out there in a while but i know even the Edenglen guys altered their route even with 5 odd of them riding. Safety is more important than saving the 5 odd minutes.
  15. Judging from the last 2 years, the 55km pretty much covers all of the NF long (black) route. Not sure about the short 25km. NF in general is not that taxing compared to eg VG, Thaba or even some of the hilly loose rock stuff at Groenkloof. It's mostly hardpack like 99%, the other 1% will comprise a bit of soft sand, a mud pudlde or 2 depending on the rain and watering at the farm. I'll be there
  16. Please don't post pics, Karma will k@k me out for that
  17. I got a 26" carbon rigid fork from Brad, still haven't fitted it yet but i'll be that Tonsil
  18. The kids love riding the cycle park, the cost tho doesn't see us visiting the park (think we've been once this year), we rather go to NF with a picnic pack & ride there, will they do some sort of bulk purchase which will reduce the cost per ride?
  19. It looks way better than the avg spinning bike
  20. I guess i'm a Tonsil then. I finished the Nissan Marathon, put my bike on my car, rushed home to shower, off to my cousin's memorial, rode with a friend the next morning at Northern Farms still with my dirty bike and number board. Who cares if you have your numberboard or timing chip (roadies) on your bike, does it really make that much of a difference as to how you should perceive somebody? PS....i also rode my MTB on the road as my next event is a MTB stage race, i must be a double Tonsil
  21. The valve thru the deep section causes a rattling noise on all rims on rough terrain, either insulation tape on the valve or since i have tubbies, i used 1 of those thin little rubber rings off a tube to put tension on the valve to 1 side to a spoke to quieten it a bit, wasn't going to remove and re-glue a tubby. Brake squeal, check that the pads are touching toe then heel when they contact. If the heel contacts first, it may cause the noise. Can't think of any other reason for the squeal right now.
  22. Assuming the brakes are at the max, cable tension is not playing a part. Do all makes of brake calipers open the same width (Shimano vs SRAM vs Campag vs KCNC)? Are there any shims/spacers between the brake block/holder and the caliper itself? Use the brake blocks and wear them down a bit? Problem will exist again once you replace the pads tho. Good luck
  23. Very nice, care sharing info/specs & approx cost? Supplier? Selected a built wheel or custom? Decals done locally? I'd be keen for a set of FCC's eventually, just worried about hub bearings/freehub backup, also if spokes are bladed etc Very nice looking job!
  24. I've dealt with Evo (Naas & Janos), happy to deal with them again, they are a regular site i check if i need stuff, even more than the Int stores now. Keep up the good work guys!
  25. Drop Grant a line, guys were more focused on riding and dopping @ the 12hr, might have slipped his mind. Doesn't G have the Surley agency locally?
