  1. I've entered the Ultra Oompie, you know you wanna
  2. What DeanBean said Hannes has been great to deal with
  3. We'll (4 of us) pretty much also be doing it un-supported (if you mean no follow/support vehicle). I've been in touch with the Organisers, they've been great with responses, not as prompt as i'd like but i think they busy too? This might help with planning, using their box system Hi Clint Correct one box per rider for checkpoint 1 and 3 and one for checkpoint 2 Size of box – my best shot - 4 shoe boxes stacked together (sorry don’t have exact measures) Meals at checkpoints: 1 – soup and bread 2 – lasagne and salads 3 – braaied ostrich kebab with roll Kind Regards Linda Durand Marketing & Communications Manager | Dryland Event Management P.O. 4. Completely off topic I too ride the S-Works 2013's (14 range is split into disciplines XCO vs XC etc), the dial thingy's (BOA) are great, after a while of water and sand, they need to be replaced, i did my road shoes Oct 2013, think a set of 4 costs me R250 (my road shoes 2.5yrs old) not bad imo. I can't comment on the stiffness or weight but i believe carbon soled shoes are the way to go unless you walk 50% of a race. I paid R2k for another set of MTB 2013 S-Works about a month ago, they in my cupboard cos the exchange is going to screw up the new shoe pricing badly. Compare that price to a set of Sidi's, what Sidi's you going to get and i believe Sidi's are heavier. Don't joke, there was a okie in the East Rand, had a set of Carbon soles, with almost plakkie like straps holding it on his foot with a cleat attached, that was it.
  5. S-Track's, they release way better than SPD's, don't have to lube the spring to keep the release schweet. I've smashed mine a couple times on rocks etc and they still going strong. Like the SPD's, i've had to also lube the axle but that's after 6 months odd and a very wet muddy ride.
  6. Dogma's aren't actually that light compared to 'Dales & other top end bikes
  7. Almost getting excited, going to be a very different experience
  8. Check with Admin but i'm sure it was allowed to be advertised provided it was fully clear that this is a CB frame etc and not the original from eg Trek/Spez etc?
  9. Mike, i know Solomons in Woodmead keep a fair amount of KCNC stuff. I've got seatposts on 2 bikes, set of MTB bars & centre lock to 6 bolt converts from KCNC, haven't had any issues. Happy with their price to weight, haven't broken anything yet
  10. Hmmm.....had a big weekend a couple weeks ago but still nothing close to the full distance, this w/end in JHB looks like wet wet wet and wetter. IDT just isn't the same but it'll need to do for now. It's going to be a long ride but i think if you just keep moving, it's all within reach
  11. Thanks for the offer, the lil lady has a compressor i pump to the max pressure a stans crest will allow with a foot pump, the tyre normally "pops" into place. I've had a stans shower before, no so pleasant breaching the max pressure barrier. I can live with a marginal wobble, not toooo OCD
  12. I remembered a thread about "hammering" it straight, just couldn't find it. Wheels are sealing, so happy either way, just wanted to try straightening while the whole lot was apart. Trueing is something i'm aware of, just tyres sometimes don't seat 100% straight either
  13. Sadly I don't know it like you I know the Church well & where the hurt is going to make me bleed from my eyes. It's a proper MTB venue, with trails for all types, lekker flowing "easier" stuff, with some ball breaking test your Skillz areas as well. Thanks for showing us the ropes @ VG rouxtjie
  14. The river section going out to Greek Church and back is awesome. I don't think you can mention VG (or anywhere in the Magalies) and exclude the phrase "lung busting". Love riding out there, VG trails are awesome
  15. After hitting enough rocks, my MTB rims have a few dings in them, i was wondering how to get them kinda straighter, even tho i don't have any issues with them sealing at the moment. So started googling, seems quite simple, going to try it since the tyres are off for maintenance, need to get the wheels ready for this weekend http://www.pinkbike.com/news/Tech-Tuesday-Fixing-Rim-Dents-2012.html http://www.bicycling.com/maintenance/repair-maintenance/bike-repair-dented-rim Then i came across this interesting book as well http://books.google.fr/books?id=KbtiuIhNTcAC&pg=PA65&lpg=PA65&dq=how+to+fix+a+dented+mountain+bike+rim&source=bl&ots=TpnwmWlk7e&sig=2rcsVDr6Na0gx1kGQkMuOk1is0U&hl=en&sa=X&ei=a5T8Ur3KIOSR7Aaj94GwBA&ved=0CDsQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=how%20to%20fix%20a%20dented%20mountain%20bike%20rim&f=false
  16. Camelbak make a 610ml bottle, it's only 100ml extra, else do a seat post mount? 610ml fits on my lil lady's bikes
  17. Not sure if you looking Niner specific fork, i know Kiwi from Rapide was bringing in "Pitch Forks" else see if brad890 has or is bringing in any.
  18. With a 10k budget, you could pretty much build/get anything, except carbon Nice problem to have 10k I still love the Hope/Crest combo but rim choice depends on your weight. Most aftermarket wheels, Easton, Mavic, AC will fall into 10k.
  19. Found other posts with the AC053 which has qty of 1 (all from Ican). I haven't brought in any C-Carbon frames, exchange rate hasn't helped that decision The FOIL is 1 frame i'd love to ride! http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/819961855/ICAN_Newest_Aero_road_frame_carbon.html http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/819962430/Aero_road_frame_carbon_road_frame.html http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/823559696/ICAN_2013_New_Aero_Racing_carbon.html
  20. If you surf theHub, you'll find lots of guys that have brought in, are bringing in, for business & personal Chinese frames. Matter or choice, if you willing to pay the bit extra (~20%), you can have you the warranty & still be cheaper than the big brand boys?
  21. Pick me, pick me I was also looking at a TT frame when the lil madam wanted to do IM, thank goodness she keeps telling me she doesn't enjoy riding road. $/R is killer at the moment, no bike purchases allowed for me
  22. Post #9 Camping is suppose to be top class there, we might still camp, think it worked out round R257 for 4 per day. Think check the Kleinplaas Resort http://www.kleinplaas.co.za/campsite.html https://www.nightsbridge.co.za/bridge/book?action=2&bbid=10668&startdate=2014-04-10&enddate=2014-04-13
  23. Fixed PBP is ~1500km right?
  24. From what the GF told me, the camping there is highly rated, don't ask me why she bought a camping and caravan magazine It was a consideration, my comparison was like for like, doubt you'll camp for Argus.
  25. GF, 2 mates and myself all doing Solo, i'll ride with GF the whole way tho. Compared to what it costs for eg a stage race or what Argus costs for a Vaalie, i think it's value for money? Argus, flights, accommodation, ride time of 3.5 hrs = R6k per person? R60/km 36One, travel, accommodation, ride time of 24 odd hours = R6k for 2 of us? R16.5/km (for 2) Do the same costing for 70.3 or IM and it's not badly priced?
