  1. Probably over thinking. Last year had a few very strong guys in 1B. I see it as an anomoly. Imagine falling back and missing sub 3 because of it! It is only the ladies 40+ in 1A. But why do you think it would great havoc? Edit: 1B didn't catch 1A? Only 3 or 4 guys did. 1B didn't do sub 3 except those 4.
  2. You must have an A seeding for this one?! Finally 😀 Now the story is complete. From Z to A cometh the day
  3. Hi Chris. Welcome to Cape Town! Not sure what you are asking exactly. But you need a permit to ride the trails and that would be the best option. Until when are you here? The day passes work out quite expensive and is limited, for example can't do corridors, if you are riding for more than a few days. Happy riding! Great trails 👌
  4. Ok guys I get it 😅 The question is then why not just go around instead of through a very hot spot?
  5. Yes, that seemed to be the consensus. But it was still frowned upon. Maybe more for safety and irritated drivers.
  6. Is it still frowned upon to rather cycle that short N1 stretch to FW/Nelson Boulevard instead of going over the bridge for people going to town?
  7. Their https://au.wahoofitness.com/devices/indoor-cycling/bike-trainer-bundles/zwift-bundles/kickr-core-zwift-buy#:~:text=KICKR CORE is compatible with, align with your bike's groupset. website says yes? "KICKR CORE is compatible with 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 speed cassettes, plus the Zwift Click and Cog, to align with your bike's groupset." There is a further link lower down to check bike compatibility with more detail about hubs as well.
  8. Seedings are out 😀 Maybe we must add a poll to the OP @Shebeen
  9. Thanks, I missed that part from the newsletter! Yesterday PPA said this, but I guess that will just fall away. " The Tour de PPA will have a Cat 1 racing group that will be for the WP League Cat 1 riders ." Will look out for D 😀
  10. That is why you must throw your timing board across just before the line 😀
  11. I am sure they will learn from last year! Because this race also forms part of the WP League there will be a separate WP Cat 1 I hear. Good that PPA and WPCA can work together.
  12. Since seeding is a hot topic, who is doing this for a last chance seeding bump before the world champs 😀
  13. Nicely explained @MongooseMan!
  14. Were you in the white shirt at 99er? You should have asked for a 99er reseed to $. You are definitely strong enough for $/A!
  15. Adjusted winner time 02:32:45 with beta 0.75. 99er beta was 0.76. Edit: Tour de PPA times from A 2:44:15 and from B 2:40:22. And C was 02:44:38 but only one rider with rest around 2:50 20.
  16. What happened at Tour de PPA last year? Looks like B rode 4 minutes faster than A with Alan Hatherley wiining ftom A?!
  17. Seeing this now. Even with 7 strong riders dropping back % the group was still almost 10 minutes behind $. What is interesting is that A basically rode the same time as %. That dropping back will only work up to B or C. You will never ride into A if not starting in A. Elites are just too big and fast. And yes, that is the conundrum if you want A 😀
  18. Yeah nothing will be perfect. But I don't think it is that bad currently. And by them looking at hundreds of riders it hopefully corrects for some of the anomolies.
  19. But doesn't that linear regression indirectly measure the difficulty? For example, they would compare two races. An easier race has B finishing 10 min behind A. And in a more difficult race B finishes 20 min behind A, but they are relatively the same strength riders. The beta corrects for the gap, which is indirectly caused by the difficulty of the race.
  20. The seeding post 99er actually worked out as it should! But yes, that is the conundrum, in how to move up. The only way is as you say, to move back and hammer it in a team, but that will probably only take you to B at best. Another way is that once you are in B or C then you can try to request a reseeding to A/elite for a PPA race and hope you get it! And then hope you don't drop!
  21. I know it seems frustrating. But think about it. % group is equal to B letter seeding, and that is exactly the seeding you got? You can't expect to get an A seeding riding in group B and finishing almost 10 minutes down on a flat course?
  22. That kind of sounds correct? 7.5 gives you A seeding which is the fastest group, in this instance $ 14.5 gives you B seeding which is the second fast group, in this instance % I think the problem is always, how to get in higher group if the group you are in rides their pace as per their seeding.
  23. No sorry, not up yet!
  24. Is see preliminary seedings show winning time not adjusted by much, from actual 2:14:22 to adjusted 2:12:58. But with a beta of 0.8 of the difficulty of the CTCT, don't expect any seeding improvement.
  25. How did that other Winelands thread go? If you are able to hang on the wheel of someone doing 50km/h then it shows you belong there so no harm no foul 😄
