    I'm electronic everything; the shifter (AXS), the dropper and the bike itself... but the best value for money has been the AXS shifter. To date I've never run out of shifter or dropper battery. I probably charge them every two weeks on average, and they're still "green"/not indicating low power. I've had the shifters now for just over a year. The dropper is great, easy on my thumb, but it is overpriced for the improvement compared to a Lynne dropper.

    I rode Meerendal about a week ago and the trail down from the top of Dorstberg (I can't remember what it's called) had seen a lot of maintenance. It was smooooooooth. In general there have been a lot of fixes and improvments.

    I love the SL. It gives you the flexibility of having a battery (sun's going down, someone got hurt, etc.) but it's so light it feels like a Stumpy. Only bad thing about the SL is that it's super noisy compared to the full Levo. I haven't tried yet but I suspect I'd struggle to keep up with a normal Levo on an SL. You can also remove the internal battery from an SL and take the extender battery in hand luggage on an aircraft (what are those anyway). The SL will run off the extender battery solely so this makes it air transportable.

    I have the full fat too...they're fun in different ways On the same ride as the pic above as I was riding along the top of Conties a Springbok flew out in front of me and then ran parallel with me down to the Oatlands gate. I kept up with it for a bit but only because it was slowed down by another gate. It was super cool.

    I was on the mountain yesterday, it felt right 😂 I wouldn't have been able to do it without an ebike due to life. (It was a low fat Levo SL)

    Some people ride for fun... The CTCT is a pretty route and it's the only time of the year that you can ride the route without the risk of traffic-related death. I was thinking about entering again, but I have an ebike now and then saw on the entry form that ebikes were allowed, so I stupidly entered as an ebike rider and then only read the Ts&Cs around ebikes and saw the restriction of 3h50m... I mean, at that time you might as well ride a normal bike. I rode it on a normal bike during the superspreader "what is covid" event and did it in 4h 9m and I spent a lot of time waiting for friends and being scared of the tar*, so 3h50m is just silly. Doing CTCT in that time on an ebike is trivial imo, you won't need to turn it on. *I was on a borrowed road bike, normally I ride MTB. The road bike scared the * out of me at higher speeds.

    Yeah, I won't ride a hard tail. There are dating apps for that The fear of being judged is good training for learning to not care, something I clearly need more of. I had a 26er for a while, it was perfectly capable, I rode most of the TMTBC trails with it (I also owned a 29er Camber at the time and I rode both for fun). I like trying new(and old) stuff because I like the experience... and I like the experience of having the flexibility that comes with an eBike.

    I had the TyreWiz, it was fine but one of them somehow broke off halfway up Dorstberg and that was the end of that ride.

    I did a ride yesterday with friends at Oak Valley, but someone new joined us (I didn't know who they were before hand). I was questioning whether I should take my non-eBike (Stumpy) or my Levo SL, eventually I decided on the Levo SL. I always worry that people will give me a hard time about the eBike or feel put out by it. For reference my SL does up to 240w output (vs a "full" Levo which can do up to 580w). Turned out the "wild card" rider was extremely strong and kept challenging me to races haha. We had a great time. I used 14% of the internal 320Wh battery over 2 hours, so around 23 Wh average per hour.

    haha yes, and SMSes. The emails today came from both RaceTec/CycleEvents and Wynand directly.

    There weren't that many I don't think? How many would you say there were? Anyway, they needed the ebikes for covid, but covid is done now so they can send ebike money away ahahaha I bought a new helmet at the race village, my existing one looked like it was melting, so I supported one of their local tenants. I suspect no ebikes is ultimately due to them starting the ebikes at the back, right before everyone else... I'm a considerate overtaker but I'm sure not everyone is (regardless of technology).

    The event's done but I'm still getting emails lol... and they don't have an unsubscribe link. I started auto deleting the emails (instead of clicking the report spam button), but my friend pointed out this line in the latest mail: "Please note; no e-Bikes allowed in the 2022 3-Stage event." Nice.

    yeah they did hit me, it wasn't too bad, paintball is worse. I was on an eBike (!) and I had caught up with (what we thought) was the 3rd fastest solo rider. I didn't want to overtake him until there was plenty of space. While I was waiting we got chatting, we discussed if drafting an eBike was illegal hahaha. I hung around to chat and that was when we both got pelted with rocks while riding over a bridge. I could hear the rocks on his bike. It wasn't a great feeling. I spent the rest of the event watching the kids on the side of the road to see if they had rocks in their hands and generally avoiding them as much as possible. There were also two/three occurrences where the kids had changed the signs around on the trails to misdirect people. Luckily I had the route on my GPS, which I had to ask for.

    I got pelted with stones by some kids towards the end of day 2 just before the bridge... that was fun.
