  1. I only have a profile on the swim course for Midmar. --------------------------------------------------------------------------
  2. Haha Dave. I think most okes suffered cause they are used to training in the cradle at 8 degrees temps and all of a sudden wham bang 34 degrees in dry heat. I guess I was lucky in the fact that I did a 38km trail run last Sat in the Magalies berg. Yes it did take me 5h35 and yes I did pass out 3 times due to heatstroke but it did make me immune against heat the following weekend at Bela. HTFU man!!! come on!!!! Abu Dhabi is in the middle of..... yes you guessed it the DESERT!!!
  3. Looking so forward to Midlands. I am going to destroy your bike course compared to Bela Bela
  4. Ja and at the next race, I want a Blue Seventy wetsuit in my goodie bag as well as some spare tubes and gas. That would make it 100% complete for me.
  5. Dave I have nother brilliant idea. How about we patent a battery operated protable transition waterbottle cooler? You put it next to your bike on you towel and switch it on. Then when you come into transition you just grab the 2 ice cold bottles and transfer them to your bike, replace the empty slots with beer for after the race and off you go??!!
  6. Hey Dave everything you say is also true. Maybe instead of having 45min intervals they can rather group us in 1 year groups and let a new group roll every 5 minutes..... Under 26's roll out. 5min later under 27's etc.
  7. Bwahaha! Me too!! Crazy! And then when I got to the penalty tent I filled in the form took about a minute and then the guys said your time starts now. 90 secs later (already 150 secs since I got off the bike the oke ask me what card i got.) I said yeallow and he said oh **** sorry then you can go. Lost about 3 minutes and I still dont know why. No worries however.
  8. Hey Brad. Ja I must admin I have been very vocal with regards to the high entry fees for tri events. This race however has been worth every penny especially if you compare it to the Germiston races which is fractionally cheaper. The organisation was flawless. It was like IM but only over the olympic distance. The infrastructure and vibe was awesome (the same as IM) and there were plenty of volunteers. The only critisism I have is that they allowed vehicles onto the cycling route which in my opinion was very dangerous especially on those roads as we hit speeds of 80km/hour and then an ou ballie comes around the corner in the middle of the road with a 4m wide Jurgens behind him. And also as per usual the TSA vultures were there in full force to collect their pound of flesh right at the start. In short I will very much reconsider entering Germiston races again. I hope that oke that passed out was ok? Anyone know?
  9. Was a great event. Yes it was warm etc but the water points were awesome.
  10. Haha true! And I guess I can send it back the day after the race and pick it up on arrival. Seems like Swissvan wants to take it with for me. I am buying the plane tickets next Friday
  11. Thx I got pretty much the same figures. Expecting to pay around R13k per head excluding some exploring afterwards so I am working on R30k for my wife and me and a 7 day trip. THe only thing I wanna clear out is the bike. Can we rent a bike there? its gonna suck traveling with a bicycle all the time........
  12. Thx
  13. No comment
  14. Ja its really fast! My whole life I have been modding my roadbike with little success. This will only be my third time on the new baby but the first race! So looking forward!
  15. Here you go Seeker!
  16. Thats very very good to hear!! Is the bike course really that tought? Like a lap in the cradle or even worse?
  17. Indeed. I will be a parasite come raceday......
  18. So I decided yesterday that since I last swam at Buffelspoort the first weekend of March this year, I need to desperately find a swimming pool just to see if I can even swim 1km!!! Linden was closed down..... Ended up in a second string gym in a 14m pool. 5 strokes turn repeat.... Fortunately I read that you can stand up in most places. I intend to do that. How fast do you think I can walk the swim?
  19. Agreed, how bad can that really be? Just make sure you stop before they reach and clear your goggles - we dont want you to be disorientated. Having said that JGR, some of them Caster-like chicks could hurt you!
  20. Indeed. Just stay on my feet. I will open the way ahead. Be warned that other athletes bodyparts may at times fall on you but just stay steady and all should be fine. Yes Seeker, I will see you at midmar as well!! Cant wait to test out my new Felt B12 on Saturday!!
  21. Seeker one should never race when ill. TO be more scientific, dont race if either you have a sore body, feaver or a high resting heart rate. Should you however not have any of these consider racing. There is no cut off like in IM. Ok there is one but if you cant do an olympic distance race in 05h30 then I dont know.... I am starting 12h45 and the cutoff is 6PM!
  22. But why not?
  23. So bitches who else is doing this race? I think DaveM is.......... Will see you there. 99% chance of a wetsuit swim sounds good.
  24. I was just offered a vodascum contract at my new job which is subisidized. I declined because of what they did to me. I would rather pay 25% more for MTN and get what I pay for. (touch wood) Vodacom will never ever ever ever see me again.
  25. They stole R1,200 from me in three months. The last month I didnt even use 500 megs (of my 2 + 2 gig) yet I received a R500 bill. The account was also capped at R199 but for some reason their systems are not working and they specifically put in the T&C's that you are responsible even if their sytem fails. Bunch of &%$@ if you ask me. Rather go Cell C Prepaid, at least you know what your charges will be.
