  1. Thats very very good to hear!! Is the bike course really that tought? Like a lap in the cradle or even worse?
  2. Indeed. I will be a parasite come raceday......
  3. So I decided yesterday that since I last swam at Buffelspoort the first weekend of March this year, I need to desperately find a swimming pool just to see if I can even swim 1km!!! Linden was closed down..... Ended up in a second string gym in a 14m pool. 5 strokes turn repeat.... Fortunately I read that you can stand up in most places. I intend to do that. How fast do you think I can walk the swim?
  4. Agreed, how bad can that really be? Just make sure you stop before they reach and clear your goggles - we dont want you to be disorientated. Having said that JGR, some of them Caster-like chicks could hurt you!
  5. Indeed. Just stay on my feet. I will open the way ahead. Be warned that other athletes bodyparts may at times fall on you but just stay steady and all should be fine. Yes Seeker, I will see you at midmar as well!! Cant wait to test out my new Felt B12 on Saturday!!
  6. Seeker one should never race when ill. TO be more scientific, dont race if either you have a sore body, feaver or a high resting heart rate. Should you however not have any of these consider racing. There is no cut off like in IM. Ok there is one but if you cant do an olympic distance race in 05h30 then I dont know.... I am starting 12h45 and the cutoff is 6PM!
  7. But why not?
  8. So bitches who else is doing this race? I think DaveM is.......... Will see you there. 99% chance of a wetsuit swim sounds good.
  9. I was just offered a vodascum contract at my new job which is subisidized. I declined because of what they did to me. I would rather pay 25% more for MTN and get what I pay for. (touch wood) Vodacom will never ever ever ever see me again.
  10. They stole R1,200 from me in three months. The last month I didnt even use 500 megs (of my 2 + 2 gig) yet I received a R500 bill. The account was also capped at R199 but for some reason their systems are not working and they specifically put in the T&C's that you are responsible even if their sytem fails. Bunch of &%$@ if you ask me. Rather go Cell C Prepaid, at least you know what your charges will be.
  11. Cause they marketed a race, took our money and then 3 weeks before race day they cancelled. A lot of people still have not got their money back. People like me already booked hotels, flights, bike transport etc. People like me started tapering after training our arses off for 9 months throughout the winter only to not race. Thats why. We are not talking a sprint distance event, we are talking a full IM distance. The mechanics and preparations change.
  12. Cant you afford a TT bike seperately. Remember if you sell/swop your road bike then you wont be able to do any cycle races at all?
  13. Thanks Skuzzi I have indeed done that! I am going
  14. Thanks! Ja I hear you. But in my experience in general the first time you ride any course it is fun or interesting...... The cradle is quite entertaining but since I have done it 30 times already I would probably rather do a spin class in my toilet as this point in time! And on a 180km route you are bound to get bored somewhere!! Even Kona's bike route looks very *** at some areas. Also I will just ride a photo along with me of an Oasis and whenever I feel bored or tired I will take it out and look at it. Mind over matter
  15. how the F did he catch that?
  16. yes please
  17. One more wicket and we are into the soft underbelly..............

  19. If you book now on Emerates its R6,600 per ticket from Joburg - Abu Dhabi (via Dubai) and back. Then you can stay at the Hilton Hotel for 2 nights BB included for R1,500. This Hotel is next to transition. So what remains is entry, your visa and pocket money. Go read what the pros say about the race, they all seem to like it.
  20. I like hot and flat.... PS:- on the website it says the max that time of the year is 28 degrees which is perfect. Not sure what you mean with boring? Cycling around a massive ocean city and over the F1 track and over islands seems better than Germiston or PE!!!???
  21. cool thx. Found it on google.... You know IM train so hard.... might just as well reward ourselves with racing at exotic locations!
  22. I agree with Faceplant. That lake is dirty. It seems however that it makes a massive difference in which area and depth the sample for the testing is taken. I have done about 4 races there in the last 24 months and it is sif. You can see it and smell it. Look closely before the event and I guarantee you, you will find condomns, empty bottles, dead fish etc along the shore. Again just smell it. It makes you want to puke!! And in any case for the Olympic distance.... that high entry fee does not justify the effectively 5km road closure cause thats all it is. Oh and its not full road closure, only partial. You share one lane back and forth. If you want clean water, go do the tri's at Buffelspoort. Now that is awesome!
  23. Haha! Chase the game bitches!!!!!!!!!!1 If we can somehow bat to lunch then the game is slipping away from Eng! They will need to come out and bat positive and therefore give chances! And the one oke they need now is KP.
  24. Thise would look so nice on my new TTbike!
  25. It just makes sense. 3km swim, 200km and 20km run is perfect 6 weeks before PE. You can recover in time. If it was 42km run maybe not! Also its not that expensive.... Normally if you fly down to PE and all that the whole trip also comes down to R10k. So I will do this and then go cheapskate in PE. Drive down with other people etc.....
