  1. OK so I did a 1km easy swim yesterday evening. Did 4 x 250m's. Anyone know a good swim coach in Bfn? I need individual lessons. Willing to pay. Or will this do? http://www.takealot.com/books/children-s-books/swimming,9780237536329
  2. Sat morning a 80 or 45km starting at the Casino at 08AM. Enter from 6AM.
  3. Thx
  4. Its funny how everyone says that. He had a long injury free career and then suddenly got 5 injuries over 18 months and now everyone writes him off. 2005 - 2007 he played a lot of rugby injury free and was practically our best player at the world cup. Maybe too much rugby does catch on. Look at Schalk as well. Why isnt anyone saying anything about him? Neck injureis, broken thumb, ribs and now knee and when he does get on he gets banned. The same goes for many other guys. Anyways it is just a prediction. Os was also told he would never play rugby or walk normal. 2 years rest down the line he played in another world cup. it is amazing what a bit of time away from the game can do.......
  5. I have a 5 year old full carbon road bike. It really feels as if it has become slow over time. No I am not slower as my MTB and TT have actually picked up. Sometimes I actually struggle to stay in the group of a fun ride even when slipstreaming!!! Are there any specific things I should look out for like wheel bearings etc or is the new bike technology just catching up on me? Is there anything I can do like get better wheels etc?
  6. Goosen will be OK trust me. That kid has what it takes. If you are good enough you are old enough. Yes he hasnt played a lot but he is super fit. He had a shoulder injury meaning he could do enough running at least and he aint scared of a front rower charging at him. Regarding the captaincy issue I would like to make a crazy prediction that Juan Smith will be the next world cup captain. This time off might just have done hom the world of good. All his injuries will heal 100% and he will be ready to go upon return whenever that is. A 2 year lay off could prolong his career and he is still young remember (just turned 31). Watch this space. Now if only they could put Lambie or Taute on at fullback then the Goose has another runner to put into space....
  7. I will in the long run definately. Swiss, I will practice "planking" in the water. How is that?
  8. Thx for the advice. I will do a bit of both. Go slow and long tonight and Sunday morning first session and from there short drills thanks. Showtime those come naturally. I cant help it.... Its like I have torrets syndrome when I randomly attack other swimmers. I am not scared of the swim as I am generally fit in the running and swimming so I know I will make it, it is all about finding a comfortable rythm.... Yes it is a wetsuit legal swim thank goodness. Maybe I should also practice lying on my back resting?
  9. Any updates on the temps again? What are the daily temps? Is it rainy season yet? Just wanna be prepared for anything.
  10. OK I got about three sessions. 2 x 40 minute sessions and 1 x 90 minute session all in a 25m pool in which to prepare for Midmar 70.3. I am a crap swimmer and havent swam in 6 months. Bike and run looking very good... Simple question... given the above constraints is it better to just swim long and slow or should I do drills? Which will have the biggest impact? If I can swim a 40min 2km I will be over the moon.
  11. mmm gonna run up a big interwebs bill come 13 October watching the race online...... Oh brother.............
  12. Haha sorry got confused. Forgot Raynard is not sponsered by Cervelo anymore? Mmmm. was he previously? Now I dont know anymore? Trek sponsored him in his last year?
  13. LOL
  14. I wanna do all 4 events. Why not make the run 06h30?
  15. Ja and what really gets me is this crowd still saying he never tested positive blah blah and all that bullcrap. In this book they explain how it really works. I was the biggest Lance/TDF fan 4 years ago until I read Bad Blood.
  16. There is a pic on FB of her with the new Trek bike. Now which one does she ride? Trek will obviously want her to ride the new "sponsored bike" which is I guess a P5?
  17. More than we can ever imagine. I think the tour is vrotter than ever. Also read Bad Blood by Jeremy Whittle. Amazing book. Quite ironic that this guys says that more money is pumped into doping research (how not to get caught) than cancer research.
  18. Honour? There is no honour left in cycling. I do however agree on your point of not supporting ex-cons. Watch this space however... Soon Lance will bring out another book.... this is like the joost/amor saga. The one goes to huisgenoot and the week after the other goes to heat etc etc etc..... watch this space I bought Floyds book way back then. Can I sue him for selling a lie?
  19. Ok so now she has 2 bikes (her bike and the new sponsored bike). I say auction off the old bike (as Trek would prefer her riding with their new one) and donate the proceeds to charity....
  20. So......... whoever stole that bike now will hopefully have problems selling it... I will be on the lookout. Hopefully he will try and sell the bike as a whole. Was it ensured? Sorry about the loss though. It must be devastating losing your bike at this time. Maybe place this add in the Beeld and also ask Supercycling to show this picture in next weeks show?
  21. Thanks! Sounds good!
  22. Ok. You can fly from Joburg to Ab Dhabi direct on Etihad. You can then race and rent a car and drive to Dubai for a few days (after visiting Ferrari world first of course) and then catch a flight back from either Dubai to Joburg on Emirates or back to Abu Dhabi again with Etihad. The only issue here is that I would like to send my bike back after the race and not sure it will be possible. Other wise I should just store it i the hotel room in Dubai and take it along when returning.... The flights are cheaper from Dubai by around R2k so maybe fly to Dubai to start with and then drive to Abu Dhabi etc??
  23. I think the following should apply:-1 1.) Get the refs silent pasola's. Most competitors listen out for the Harley and then everyione scatters. 2.) Tell the ref to ride at 40km/hour. This way he will be able to spot and look at suspicious behaviour for 30 seconds + before making a call. I really get the feeling that if that oke comes at 100km/hour he has to make a call within seconds from 100 metres away..... so for instance should a oke plan on passing but then decide against it last minute due to oncoming traffic for example and breaks behing another oke then for about 5 seconds it WILL look like he is drafting. I just think the refs should monitor you over a period of time. PS:- They came back, my card was for "blocking". Not sure how the 3 min penalty fits in here..
  24. Good suggestion Dave. Or they must put cooler boxes at the end of every isle so that competitors can store their well marked bottles in these.....
  25. Well according to weatherSA the weather looks fine for Saturday? Sunday a small chance of very light rain. Was the race supposed to be tomorrow or Sunday?
