  1. Because Philander was facing. If Steyn where on strike he would have brough a few in to prevent the single. Do you really think Dhoni would have left everyone on the boundary when we required less than a run a ball (by the way this was not the case after FAF was run out - see how ypou "singles" theory worked out for us there)
  2. PS:- As well as AB and FAF batted in the end they are the reason we did not win......
  3. It is a series. All to play for now in Durbs. Tahir and Morkel could not bat due to inability and injury. They would have had to hit sixes with 9 indian fielders on the boundaries. Not something you would back a 8 and number 9 to do. Indian bowled bouncers. How do you hit a bouncer for six? If they tried they most likely would have gone out....... It is very obvious that most people do not understand the difference between Tests and 20/20..... Had they tried and lost the match I would love to have heard what Y'all have had to say............

    apology

Ok I forgive you. But only this one time because it is Christmas.
  5. I think India is going to have trouble this match. If it is 30 degrees+ tomorrow it could get really ugly really quickly. They needed at least 3 quick wickets...........
  6. I think it is also about balance. Choose a team like this Gibbs, Warner, de Kock, Gayle etc and you will win every 4th game by a massive margin but lose the rest. We have enough stroke makers in the team. It is more important to ensure they do not face the new ball in my opinion. De Villiers, Amla, Duminy, Du Plessis are all attacking minded batsmen and our strike rate will be high enough. We rather need a guy making 30 off 100 balls every test as an opener rather than 4 failures and then one double hundred in test number 5.
  7. Tillakaratne Dilshan, Test batting stats Mat Inns Runs HS Ave SR 100 50 Overall 87 145 5492 193 40.98 65.54 16 23 Subcontinent 60 98 3973 168 44.14 70.33 13 16 Outside subcontinent 27 47 1519 193 34.52 55.64 3 7 This is also assisted by his big average against ZIM and NZ away.......... If this guy lived in SA, would you pick him as a test opener or as a number 4?
  8. Gilchrist did not open in Tests. Maybe he helped out if Langer or Hayden was injured. You can have Sehwag, Dilshan and the likes open in the sub continent. Flat tracks and you score most runs in the first 40 overs. In SA its different. Dilshan will probably average 70 at home but less than 30 in SA/Aus/Eng? (don't have the stats) Warner is playing well yes.
  9. Amla can open. He has the technique and temperament. I really don't see why a team will pick a "third opener" at number 7 for the second new ball. That guy should then bat 3 should an early wicket fall as well as he is a new ball specialist??? If you want to win tests then you will need to bat at 3.5 and over. Do this and you will have 280 runs by the time the new ball comes around. Nick off another 40 runs and you will win more test than lose at that rate. I would choose Smith Amla Elgar (future star player hopefully) De Villiers Duminy Du Plessis De Kock Petersen (Robin) or any other spinner Philander Steyn Morkel Ideally I would move Amla back to three and maybe Elgar up eventually but we don't have an opener at present. Elgar and Du Plessis's position is simple. Score runs or be dropped. Also start looking into Rilee Rossouw I hav e left Kallis out as we need to look forward. He needs to drop 10kg's and really want to play for SA to be selected again.
  10. I think he will bat better with the old ball. Why did Gillchrist not open in Test matches? Generally an opener is a defensive batsmen. He needs to take the shine off so that when Amla and De Villiers comes in they can play shots. I really just think because a guy scores runs in one day cricket does not automatically make him a test opener. Has he ever faced Mitchell Johnson in a test match bowling at 150km/hour with a ball moving along? Soon someone will have too and I am just scared it may hurt his career if he fails. Let him score runs in the local series like all batsmen have too that wants to make the step up. Taking the shine off is the most important duty in my opinion
  11. Drop Petersen and pick De Kock
  12. I don't think Alviro should be dropped just yet. Give him a fair chance. Let QDK play local 4 day series (like he is doing) and make runs then he will be in contention. Why does everyone seem to think that test cricket and one day cricket is the same thing? Scoring runs in ODI's means nothing when it comes down to tests...... Again, the role of the opener is to take the shine off the ball. Rather pick de Kock at 7 if need be...
  13. hAHA the fumes burnt my rack as well. Luckily Thule sent me replacement parts free of charge. Had to modify my exhaust. Look 695, maybe rack your bike on the last spot in case it melts the number 1 slot so that your wheel doesn't melt with it. From the photo I would have to say yes it will burn it for sure. (but I aint the expert) Or go to your local garage and have them grind off a small piece of the exhaust. Worked for me.
  14. BF nowdays at least creates a separate folder with the updates on it. You can just copy this folder off of any other BF3/4 playing guys PC and install. Hope this helps.
  15. Its just so incredibly difficult. I wish they could have level caps on servers. Some okes play this game 24/7. I play 1 hour a week. Still on level 4...
  16. I play it. I also get my @ss handed to me every time I play. Now I am a medic so I can sort of add value. Maybe we should team up... What is your name online so that I can add you as a friend?
  17. FNB has a couple of MTB fanatics very high up.... Glad to see them supporting our beloved sport....
  18. Guess not then. Ignore me please.
  19. Or what's that Natal openers name??? He scored a century on debut and then disappeared (dropped the very next game) or maybe my mind is leaving me
  20. I think this is the team they will select Smith Petersen Amla Kallis De Villiers (w/k) Duminy Elgar Philander Morkel Steyn Tahir Personally I would be tempted to bring in De Kock and drop Kallis for this series. He is out of form and it bothers me that now days he only wants to play when he feels like it but is always ready for IPL action..... Should Elgar / Petersen fail consistantly I would consider guys like Faf and even Imran Khan (what did he do to get dropped??). I would however give Elgar an extended run as he is young and classy, just needs to hit form...
  21. Will there be doping tests done?
  22. Haha point taken....... see my edited post
  23. Bwaaahahahahaha!! How the hell did you find that post ??? IMSA it is indeed!!!! So DaveM what time are you aiming for???
  24. I would not select Kleinveldt or Tsolekile. Ryan McLaren and de Kock should be in the squad at least....
  25. Agree. Lopsy is a good ODI bowler. He takes wickets cause the opposition targets him as he is the weakest link in our bowling attack. He is also not fit enough for test cricket nor fast enough.
