  1. Haha point taken....... see my edited post
  2. Bwaaahahahahaha!! How the hell did you find that post ??? IMSA it is indeed!!!! So DaveM what time are you aiming for???
  3. I would not select Kleinveldt or Tsolekile. Ryan McLaren and de Kock should be in the squad at least....
  4. Agree. Lopsy is a good ODI bowler. He takes wickets cause the opposition targets him as he is the weakest link in our bowling attack. He is also not fit enough for test cricket nor fast enough.
  5. Look there is arguments for and against every player and every scenario Kallis also had a crap start to his career and averaged even less at some stage yet they persisted with him. Elgar has now found his feet and needs to produce. If he doesn't only then consider the other options. Remember we are the number 1 side so obviously they are doing something right. De Kock has his ODI game figured out. I say leave him to focus on that for now. he is still young. If we must play him as number 7 in tests. Pushing him to open now could be very detrimental to his game. Test cricket is a lot harder than ODI. Just because a guy scores runs in ODI does not make him a test batsmen - De Kock has a LONG way to go before he gets there. Graeme is tough as nails and so are Kallis, Amla and the rest. Fair enough Gibbs was a shot maker but the problem with those kinds of batsmen is that they only come off once in a while. (Sehwag & Gayle etc). Whilst these guys all have good averages I would prefer a opener who scores 35 every single innings to a guy who scores 250 once off every 4 tests....... But that's just my view... I am however pretty sure they wont change a lot from the test squad as again we are number 1.......
  6. Faf is struggling with season 2 syndrome. Year one you always look good... year two the opposition figures your game out... he will be back... I also think the problem is with Kallis on the way out SA is looking for more than just a batsmen at that slot..
  7. Ingram is good too. But he and Millar seems to be ODI players of choice at present. Elgar has better technique and scores big runs regularly in the longer format. And he scored like 2 hundreds in his last 3 tests if I am correct. They will select Elgar and Peterson for the Wanderers......
  8. And see how that worked out for India. Remember flat track bullies can have stroke makers for openers! I rate Elgar. We must be careful not to try and play test cricket to aggressive due to all the IPL cricket the guys play. And also before we all get too excited, India's bowling attack at present is about as dangerous as DaveM on the run leg of any triathlon
  9. Well not as simple in Ironman. You pay R4,200 for an entry and train for 9 months. So you really do not want to puncture and if you do then you really want to fix it
  10. Well first and foremost the opener needs to take the shine off the ball - therefore you need a guy that can leave well and concentrate for long periods of time. If number 3 and co only comes in after 30 overs each test I cant see you losing too much. De Kock falls in the "stroke maker" category. Sure they can consider pushing him up the order at some stages should the need arise (like the sub continent). Maybe Dean Elgar can open..
  11. Its tough to open and keep wicket. In fact when a team has been in the field for say 2 days then this poor oke must immediately go bat again....... QDK is a aggressive 1-day player. Like Gilchrist and like Sangakarra he can play test cricket but not open (for now in any case). In that case rather have Amla open... I think our main issue now must be who to replace Kallis with................
  12. Maybe a bit early for that. I would definitely bring him in at 7 in the test line up for now..... Like a second Gilchrist.....
  13. That was quite pathetic to say the least. Asking for new gloves 12 balls after the drinks break!
  14. I got 2 x Conti 4,000 GP's...... So we shall see. Maybe I will get one of these as a spare...
  15. It looks like puncture prone tyres??
  16. Doesn't really matter in anycase. Rohit could/should have been out 25 times before then as well. If he was a better batsmen he would have nicked Dale earlier. Kohli should also have been out for 0. India lucky to even get past 50 runs in my opinion.
  17. Yes
  18. It felt good watching the cricket yesterday....... BCCI have been taught a lesson Welcome back to earth India. Expect an even bigger humiliation on Sunday as there will be plenty of emotion at the stadium.
  19. Thx guys. Interesting answers. Will read up as well and come back here
  20. Ok so my question is simple. I wanna do the Buffelspoort 70.3 on 9 March. This is exactly 4 weeks before IM race day. Good idea or bad idea? A 70.3 might set me back training wise for the crucial 4 to 2 weeks before IM period when I mainly would have done speed work and interval training.... On the other hand it will get me "race sharp"..........
  21. TriLesson#1 Be careful to apply aftershave to the right hand side of your neck in the days after a wetsuit legal race..... Trilesson#2 It is always a great idea to make a fisio appointment for the day after a 70.3. Until the day after the 70.3 when it becomes very apparent that it was a stupid idea Trilesson#3 Don't trust the guy in front of you to pace you at a safe speed going into a dangerous turn
  22. I hope it was 1.9km or my PB will not stand
  23. Very nice Travis. Wished I could see the "crash" after T1 . Must have looked funny!
  24. OK I will start:- Another race and as always new lessons to be learned. I had my bike in for some maintenance and a few small changes last week. Never change stuff in race week. I ended up with 4 working gears or my chain would come off or get stuck in between chain rings. Race day started perfectly. Wetsuit legal swim. For a change I decided to stand in front at the swim start. Got swam over by a few guys but then settled into a very nice rhythm. Swam straight for a change and it does make a big difference. Swam a PB. Bike went OK. Note to one self... Do not take a disk wheel on a route that makes you stop and turn around 8 times. This and my 4 gears did not make it easy. Doing this race for the 4th time I should have known this... The cycling route was dangerous. This was mainly due to the wet conditions, heavy traffic and road works which made the narrow road even more narrow. I very nearly came off on the last turn inside the resort. The oke in front was bemused that I managed to not crash. This adrenaline ensure a fast T2. Ran like the wind (for me in any case) and finished in around 05h15. When my calf cramped on the last 50 metres I knew I timed my race well. Finally I have figured out my nutrition but obviously the cool weather did help. This race could be even better than EL70.3 if they can somehow just sort the bike route... 2 laps perhaps and road closure would really be awesome. The swim & run must be the best in Tri in South Africa..... Lost my saddle bag. If someone picks up a "specialized" saddle bag I will pay a R200 reward and postage money.
