Ive got them to put 4 spinning bikes on the floor at my gym. So I dont have to always be in the class.

Ive taken to spinning standing up without holding the bars, it took some getting used to in the beginning but Ive found my abs & glutes have strenghtened, and overall balance has increased too. Not sure if its good or not, but seems to be haveing some benefit

Personally I think spinning helps me, as long as there is enough resistence and you mix it up while on the spinning bike.

So would it be wise to be using the super lightweight QR skewers? Sorry if slighty off topic. I'm looking at getting a new set of skewers, any advice?

This is what I'm talking about, for example doing a 45min spin class followed by a half hr run or the same on the cross trainer. I totally get the part about base miles and time in the saddle being a major factor in your training.

Even if you are doing an all cardio based workout? Like you say there is stop start within that hour of riding on the road, if i know, that for an hr at the gym I can go balls to the wall. Gym for me is to also have fitness for bodyboarding & other activities.

Make sure the parts stay well lubed if you are gonna take it down the beach, also wash it straight after.

Ive only got 14" tyres, my landlord own wheel & steel in Durban, so got good prices. cheaper then the Conti tyre on my bike.
