You missed the point , Im not saying all people are like that - its like why buy a super car when u cant drive it properly. Why not start with a cheaper bike then work your way up. I not jealous at all, If I wanted to buy an expensive bike I could, but rather I work my way up to it.

Thats what Im thinking, I could only really afford to go the 2nd hand route. Just hesitant though, it like buying a car and not knowing it been in a crash cause the cover up is so good. So you would say go for it then, are there things too look out for?

Really, even cracks in middle of a tube? What if there is stress/fatigue/crack you cant see? Then while riding the bike falls apart, can this happen? I would have thought that carbon frames would never have the longevity of an Ali frame?

What happens to the old bikes & parts that you dont take? Im looking for a better 2nd bike for the wife.

I think its kinda along the lines of the "small man syndrome" and cars. Also just cause youve got the money to buy the best doesnt mean it suits you(maybe its too show off, look at how much I earn but cant even ride properly). I see a lot of it too, whats the point in buying such an expensive bike only to be usd a few times and then sold. Ive got a mate that did the same thing - bought a 40k bike that is now a wall feature in his study, along with a top of range spinninjg bike that is now a clothes horse( he wont let me use it or sell it, weird) I am tryiing to get him to sell the bike and switch to MTBing.

I dont think it anyone should suffer from someone elses passion/hobby - Its all about the balance, something Ive had to learn, So I dont get up early every weekend, on alternate Sundays I go ride with her down the beach front while she rollerblades behind me, She loves doing that, I hate it. There needs to be compromise from both people.
