  1. I left Majik at about 11.30am and saw a lonely wheel leaning against a barrier. There were a few cyclist about so maybe somebody picked it up. Me, I was running with the hound.
  2. Is there a performance advantage to wearing one?
  3. Great route, 65k round trip from Welgemoed. I normally do it in reverse Kuilsrivier - Polkadraai - Stellenbosh - Bottelary. That way you get to appreciate one of the most stunning cycling views known to man, coming down Polkadraai towards Stellies . Also, bypass the main road of Kuilsrivier by going down Bottelary and tuning right at the service station.
  4. Great Stuff. Just need to find some gaps in the Golf club fence and I can be at the store from home in 5 minutes flat
  5. 1/2 -2/3 cup of raw jungle oats, with a handful of Fruit & Veg's cranberry mix, and 2% fat milk. Best Muesli this side of Texas
  6. I agree hill training is the way to go. After getting seriously battered at the Cobra and having to get off my bike 100 meters from the finish with cramp in 6 different places, I hit the hills with intent and managed a sub 3.10 at the 99er which was a nice surprise for me. But back to 'what about the bike..' I ride a 9.5 kilo Trek 1500 with entry level wheels etc. When I look across at my fellow riders I kind of think that they are doing it a bit more easily with their light bikes and fast looking wheels. By upgrading to say a higher spec 7.5 kilo bike would it just be the 2 ks I am losing in bike weight aiding performance or would a stiffer frame (mine does wobble a bit when accelerating) and better wheels also add to performance v power output improvement?
  7. I see there are two options at Deal Extreme 1) HA-III Cree SSC P7-C (SXO) for 78.48 2) HA-III SSC P7-C (SXO) for 77.21 Any preference for one over the other?
  8. Thanks ML, Kind of like all those fancy VCR and DVD players that I have purchased over the years with all the bells and whistles, and I only ever ended up using the play, stop and pause buttons. The X2 comes with SLX hubs and Mavic 317 rims, so maybe a jump to an XT wheel set could be the winner?
  9. Looking very seriously at getting the Giant Anthem X2. One of the differences between the X1 (RP23) and X2 (RP2) is the rear shock. Is the pro-pedal adjustment feature on the RP23 useful or do most people set it up once, leave it, and then just turn on and off. Are there any other differences?
