  1. Please riders, if you were at the Omnium and happened to take a wheel that does not belong to you, it would be appreciated if you would kindly return in to Robert du Preez - Eastern tempest 2 deep section carbon wheel with continental gator skin sprinter tubby. Robert can be contacted on 071 268 1928
  2. Lets face it, the organizers do it because they make money no doubt about it. If my memory serves me correct, dont the amashova pay more to the riders than what Argus do ? Compare the numbers, 5000 Amashova Arugs 35000 - 7 times more, then the prize money should be 7 times more than what Amashova pay.
  3. Roadstar, Thanks so much for the update !! Brad get well soon
  4. Dear Eugene, Helen and Gaz, Brad is in our prayers and we are thinking of all of you. He is such a special young man . May he have a speedy recovery With lots of love from Blacklers KZN
  5. One wonders ! Winningtime has been changed to "Race Tech" then you have "My RAce" Is this just a coincidence or do both companies belong to the same person/s ??
  6. The next event in KZN, will be the Tour Durban. Not too many races in KZN this year. You can go onto the website and will give you the events cyclingkzn.co.za
  7. Hi Gary, The race is in Richards Bay on Sunday 22 March, you can contact Seonaid Benningfield 082 452 6372 first batch off at 7am.
  8. If race organizers put some of the money back into cycling, I am sure many riders would support the events.
  9. Springfield used to be great, but they have built on , so not so good. I will find out ,maybe the top of the Pavilion ? I think this could work.
  10. The reason behind this that there were insufficient "Officials" as they all in Pietermaritzburg for the Jacob Zuma case !!! There must have been around 3000 riders turn out this morning. I dont think Cycle Safe will leave it here. Watch eTV and Daily News were there too.
  11. 6 Riders were taken out this morning by a truck. Yet another Hit and Run. Not too sure of all there names , Anne Schooling has had a 2 operation and I believe not too well. Mary is in hospital with a broken leg and not sure how the other riders are doing. Reminder KZN riders, please joing the Protest ride on Tuesday morning, meeting at 7.15am at the kings Park Pool and ride will start at 8am sharp. Riding to the City Hall !!!
  12. Wishing you a speedy recovery. My contribution done ( ref; Big mama -KZN) Please keep us posted on Bernard's recovery.
  13. All the officials were with the racing cyclists and not the open batches, so I really cannot answer that one. The norm is that he can drop back and ride with the next batch as long as he is not contesting the sprint for prize money or assisting the riders who are racing for the prize money.
  14. There were no officials in the open cats !! I know because I organized them from Gauteng !! Did your 18 yr old friend ride the 50km or the 105km. What I saw happen was the recreational riders who rode the shorter distance started mixing with the racing 105km riders on the M4. This is probably where the officials asked him to remove himself from the racing bunch doing the 105km. <aybe he did the sub 3 for the 50km who knows only the rider himself.
  15. Guys, let the girl ride, The final stage is a killer, would like to see some of the Elites race it. Anyone who finished the tour needs a huge medal, it is a very hard tour. I battled just driving a car up the climbs never mind a bike !!! Ronel , yes we do need you back in the sport !!! Could I nominate you as a selector at congress???
  16. Hubbers, I know the KZN results should be on the web site. www.cyclingkzn.co.za The one rider to watch is young Bernard, his time for the sprint in windy conditions was 11.1 at U16 not too shabby !!! Talking about new wooden tracks. I was involved with the SA champs in Durban in 2006. Since then members from the city council have been to check out wooden tracks. They like the idea of the track in Sydney. i recently spoke to the person involved and he said that its still on the cards for KZN, not too sure when.Gary, if there is any info you could help us with or if you dont mind I could put the guy onto you for more info !! They are serious about a A grade indoor wooden track !! Thanks
  17. Great work you doing here Hagar, I have deposited R100 will reflect from FNB. I am sure you will have the amount in no time
  18. i had a very interesing conversation with a Vet cyclist at the recent Worldsview Challenge, which makes sense. He suggested that cycling revert back to what it was many years ago. Have interclub events every week and have a big race with road closure once a month. This will keep the cost of race events down and each club organize one of the events. This way clubs and members will benefit and keep the money in cycling !!

Hi Annie, We at Cycling KZN have reviewed the situation with regards to the licensing issue for the Pick and Pay Amashova and concluded that all cyclists will still have to be licensed for the race despite the fact that another Province has opted to waiver the request for a license to compete in the Pick and Pay 94.7 It has been necessary for a cyclist to be a member of an affiliated club and licensed by means of either a cyclosport or full license in order to compete in races in KZN and for CKZN to simply revert to what we had previously would in no uncertain terms undermine the integrity of the Executive. We therefore conclude that if a cyclist wishes to take part in the Amashova they have to be licensed. If for some reason they are not licensed or cannot produce their license they may purchase a temporary license at registration. We trust that the above information is of value to you and from us at Cycling KZN wish you all the best for the Pick and Pay Amashova. Regards Steve Marnewick President of Cycling KZN.
  20. If you want to PM me , I will give you the contact details of the development officer in KZN> We do have lotto road bikes. Not sure on the sizes. There is development riding every Wednesday night at the Cyril Geoghagen Cycle track. If you can get there about 5pm the development guys are there. You can also make arrangements to meet them at Cycle Lab in Kensington Drive, which is possibly closer for you. They normally go around there often. Just PM Me
