  1. Aaah... My swimming has been almost non existant due to a niggle, and December took its toll, two weeks to feel a bit fitter and then to go smash it. More of a training race to see where I'm at for full Ironman, but this will mark 1 year exactly since my first 70.3, so a year of formal coach based training, so will be interesting to see the results
  2. Seems I was part of the clan that dropped off towards the end of 2019.... Kept my weight in check, on a good day I'm the same as I was a year ago... Now the key is to man up and eat right, that's where I fell off the wagon. Too much nougat and chocolate, as one can never have too much beer, so it definitely wasn't that [emoji1787] So here goes.... 86 at the moment, goal is 82 in May for my Ironman, and then will see if 82 is a good weight for me or if I should try drop to 80 by the end of the year.
  3. I need to get passed EL first, and the holiday season has not been kind to me[emoji1787]
  4. People were wondering if numbers were down and possible reasons why. That's my reason.
  5. For me, it's an expensive venture to head up to jhb for a ride that's not even 100km, and no offense to the jhb guys, but it's riding through jhb. I'd rather spend my money on a race where I'm riding somewhere new/scenic/ not through a city.
  6. Is it all your toenails or only certain ones? All toes versus only big toe/only little toe can give some insight Also Probably not, but have you considered it may be your cycling shoes and not your running shoes?
  7. Sorry, my bad, frodeno is an ASICS man.... Thought he was an Adidas man. New prototypes he wore for kona
  8. Adidas have carbon plated shoes now too [emoji2273]
  9. There's some funny way they back date the tests to the beginning of the quarter if you miss them, same happened to Christian Coleman before doha. Missed 3 tests but because of backdating they didn't all fall in the time period that would have resulted in a ban.
  10. Apparently the amount of people wearing them at Kona and walking was insane
  11. Their rules are just so wishy washy. By their ruling on shoes then even spiked shoes on tracks could be argued as illegal, as they give someone an advantage over someone not wearing spikes
  12. Also couldn't fight it, lasted about 15 minutes into the men's run. Luckily had set my alarm. Frodissimo is a beast! What a race! Anne Haug smashed it too! Lucy could hardly bend down to pick up the champagne at the end, put everything out on the course! Great race to watch!
  13. On the official Ironman Facebook page. At the top it says Ironman is now live... I just clicked on that
  14. And there goes any productivity I might have had this evening!
  15. I think you're in the wrong place. If you already have facebook then you should be good to go. I think the facebook live broadcast only starts in about 4 hours, usually on the ironman page
  16. Yeah they should, I've watched a few Ironman races on Facebook. No need to register, unless you mean register for Facebook
  17. Custom molded to their forearms. Cam wurfs bars cost 12000 pounds!
  18. They stream it on the Ironman Facebook page
  19. You saw right, trifactri suit it is! My honest opinion is if all you wanna do is finish, if you're happy with with a 7 or 8 hour 70.3, then joining a group won't really benefit you as much. But if you're trying to get better and do as well as you possibly can, then i think a coach /group is essential. It's a bit different for me, as I'm not in jhb, so I don't join up with the team that much for long rides and runs, but when I have its been much better than training by myself. What I can say with 100 % certainty is I wouldn't be where I am without my coach and I wouldn't enjoy the races nearly half as much without being part of a team.
  20. The biggest thing I find that helps is swimming with other people. It's been a long time since I've had the motivation to bang out 4km swims by myself, but if I find someone else to do it with me, then I find it very manageable. It's funny also, cause I find it much more enjoyable doing longer sets, for example 8 x 400 I'll take every time over 16 x 200. So just finding the sets that work for you will make life better. That might be fewer longer sets or more shorter sets. Just switch it up to what you're currently doing.
  21. I've tried both maurten and tail wind. I prefer the maurten drink, purely because the taste of tailwind doesn't do it for me after a while and it's warm and meh. That said I still use tailwind on trail runs. More so because I still have it in the cupboard. I'm not a fan of the maurten gels as I find you have to actually chew them, and I struggle to chew and breath at the same time while running. So I've been using the Maurten drink and other gels when needed.
  22. That one oke was literally taking everything!
  23. I think it will be wurf and amberger first off the bike, but it will end up being a frodo Lange fight for the win. I don't think Brownlee is up there just yet... On the ladies side I think it's angry bird winning unless she has an issue. I'd love Lucy to take it but I don't think she's there yet. I've actually got a feeling Anne haug might pip her for 2nd place, and my dark horse is Imogen Simmonds for a podium. So basically after angry bird it's a free for all haha.
  24. I've got a 100mm on, started out with a 90 but swapped it out to try a 100 and it's much of a muchness
  25. Not doing it, but I'm in Pmb and haven't heard anything like that from anyone I know doing it
