  1. Nice gravel adventure today around the midlands in the heat. Notties - mooiriver - karkloof - notties. I called it a day after beer at karkloof
  2. Was a scorcher in the valley today! Karkloof country club may have run out of beer after our stop there.
  3. Some midlands gravel grinding over the weekend
  4. The interesting question is if it does go ahead, do you qualify for kona 2021 in the November race or does the usual April edition have the qualifying slots?
  5. I've never heard of that model, I'm assuming it's actually the adv skin 5? I run in the adv skin 12 and really enjoy it!
  6. Just put in an order to see shipping costs and time line, R250 and over a week for shipping, which I assume means it's shipping from overseas (some of my other nikes did this when I ordered online). That's exactly why I wouldn't mind trying a pair, I could never get the Pegasus to work for my feet.
  7. I see the Nike trail 2 just dropped on the website... Does this mean it'll be available in store or only online?
  8. If you are going to try headlamps, I chose mine as it had the strap atop your head, so it doesn't slide down. Something to consider. That's weird, I actually feel safer in the dark on my bike compared to in the day, the lights actually work properly and are much more visible, I've confirmed this while driving and seeing other cyclists ride with lights on. The main downside is higher probability of drunken fools driving around in the early hours of the morning.
  9. I just use a head lamp, but a decent one (nitecore hc60) and it works great. I've seen people with essentially a head touch but on a waist strap and that seems to work OK.
  10. I just weighed my fork with thru axle, 1460g. My bike weighs 11.5 ready to ride (with little saddle bag and lights attached) , but it has a lauf fork on it...
  11. I've been looking at these to try, if only they had my size... Also new Nike trail 2 are dropping soon, keen to give those a go
  12. I never got more than 450/500km out of the three pairs of trail shoes I bought.
  13. If you're staying in Hilton swing past absolute motion and chat to Johan, we've been doing mostly gravel rides lately but they do a lot of mtb rides and they'd be happy for you to join group rides. Otherwise just go to cascades, take your climbing legs and just explore and ride all the trails [emoji1787] just be careful if yoi find yourself on the new downhill track, you've been warned[emoji1787][emoji1787]
  14. I assumed it was because Noone wants tubbies anymore, hence the low price
  15. I'm pretty sure it will go ahead. They are also limiting entries to 100. But I don't mind if it's a staggered start, within 2km everyone is spread apart anyway
  16. I actually came from the trail running side to triathlon, and the midlands are my home trails, Andrew and the team are epic and have only been blown away doing the wild series events. I just needed someone to confirm that my idea is a great one[emoji12]
  17. With most of my triathlon races cancelled for the rest of the year (the big ones anyway), and riding off of Ironman training, I'm considering entering karkloof 50 miler. Anyone here entered/thinking about it?
  18. Yes those are more itu legal triathlon bars, meant for road bikes and short triathlons, Olympic and sprint distances (draft legal triathlons, where the short length and joining of the bars it to avoid injury when there's a bunch crash). Not saying you can't use them for longer races, but I don't think they'd be super comfortable for 3+hours on the bars. If you are going for clip on bars for 70.3 and full Ironman I would rather look at something like the profile design ergo 35 range.
  19. I would maybe differ in opinion from what the others have said. I would say get a cheap ish road bike first and do some Olympic tris and a 70.3 distance or two. Then if you get into it get a decent tri bike. I can tell you from personal experience that if you go straight to cheapish tt bike you'll want a more expensive /better one for full Ironman anyway, So rather get a cheapish road bike and nice tri bike on the way to full Ironman. Other option is just go straight for nice tt bike[emoji1787]
  20. Welcome to the tri scene! Tri bars are fairly adjustable, so it's not too much of an issue which ones you get, I'd say profile design and you're away.... Saddles is another ball game, you just have to try and see which one suits you. I'd give an ism one a try, as most people are comfortable on them, but you might not be most people, just be ready to go through one or two saddles before you find the right one,.... Beware..... Bank accounts don't like triathlons [emoji1787]
  21. Do you need an xl? I'm 185 and I'm riding a L Farr frame
  22. If you know your size just order the zoom fly 3s off of the Nike sa website, maybe now in corona they'll take a little bit longer but I got mine within 7 days and they shipped from Amsterdam.
  23. Looks like Dubai will be my next race then.. No desire to do EL again [emoji1787]
  24. Yeah pretty much, finincially I don't think I'll be able to fork out 15-20k in November.
