  1. Has anyone been running in the hoka carbon x? All the online reports seem to be fairly mixed, but that's after they've run 50km. Any runners long term been in them? What are your opinions?
  2. I use them, one of the better tasting gels I've had, and using their hydrafit juice too.their energy bars are like rice crispy bars, so easy to eat, and their energy shot little bottles work a treat! Haven't sampled all of their products though.
  3. Yip same story here [emoji1787]
  4. I need to get passed EL first, and the holiday season has not been kind to me[emoji1787]
  5. Is it all your toenails or only certain ones? All toes versus only big toe/only little toe can give some insight Also Probably not, but have you considered it may be your cycling shoes and not your running shoes?
  6. Sorry, my bad, frodeno is an ASICS man.... Thought he was an Adidas man. New prototypes he wore for kona
  7. Adidas have carbon plated shoes now too [emoji2273]
  8. There's some funny way they back date the tests to the beginning of the quarter if you miss them, same happened to Christian Coleman before doha. Missed 3 tests but because of backdating they didn't all fall in the time period that would have resulted in a ban.
  9. Apparently the amount of people wearing them at Kona and walking was insane
  10. Their rules are just so wishy washy. By their ruling on shoes then even spiked shoes on tracks could be argued as illegal, as they give someone an advantage over someone not wearing spikes
  11. You saw right, trifactri suit it is! My honest opinion is if all you wanna do is finish, if you're happy with with a 7 or 8 hour 70.3, then joining a group won't really benefit you as much. But if you're trying to get better and do as well as you possibly can, then i think a coach /group is essential. It's a bit different for me, as I'm not in jhb, so I don't join up with the team that much for long rides and runs, but when I have its been much better than training by myself. What I can say with 100 % certainty is I wouldn't be where I am without my coach and I wouldn't enjoy the races nearly half as much without being part of a team.
  12. The biggest thing I find that helps is swimming with other people. It's been a long time since I've had the motivation to bang out 4km swims by myself, but if I find someone else to do it with me, then I find it very manageable. It's funny also, cause I find it much more enjoyable doing longer sets, for example 8 x 400 I'll take every time over 16 x 200. So just finding the sets that work for you will make life better. That might be fewer longer sets or more shorter sets. Just switch it up to what you're currently doing.
  13. I've tried both maurten and tail wind. I prefer the maurten drink, purely because the taste of tailwind doesn't do it for me after a while and it's warm and meh. That said I still use tailwind on trail runs. More so because I still have it in the cupboard. I'm not a fan of the maurten gels as I find you have to actually chew them, and I struggle to chew and breath at the same time while running. So I've been using the Maurten drink and other gels when needed.
  14. I've got a 100mm on, started out with a 90 but swapped it out to try a 100 and it's much of a muchness
  15. Not doing it, but I'm in Pmb and haven't heard anything like that from anyone I know doing it
  16. When I looked Into it, you added on 30% (15% duty and %15% vat or something like that) to the quoted price, and then add shipping. But I never bought one so cannot confirm the actual numbers
  17. Yes I found it to work great, after I had pulled all the cables out [emoji1787]
  18. Don't pull out all the cables on your internally cabled bike without threading something through with it so you don't spend 5 hours fishing for cables, no amount of beer makes that a fun job
  19. And I've got one for sale in the classifieds [emoji6]
  20. Any top range shoe is that price, new Pegasus - 3k, On stratus - 3k, New balance 1080 - 2.8k.....
  21. Did you come right with a flat mount brake caliper? I've got one lying around, as I went the other way (had two flat mounts and needed a post mount)
  22. Give Nike gateway a shout, I saw some there a couple of weeks back. If not they have some 4%s too [emoji6]
  23. At the price of the Farr I'd get it and slowly build it up. This is what I did, and my build came up short of 20k, with a mix of force, rival and Apex. At this price and with the added headset and axles etc you could easily drop it under 15k if you wait for some good deals on parts
  24. His insta looks like he's getting ready to give it a solid go, i hope he smashes it!
  25. I've got one of these beauties.... Honestly it's my favourite bike... My road bike has been gathering cobwebs since I got my Farr. I even took it down a bit of the xc course at cascades this weekend.. Now just to wait for those aero storage units [emoji7]
