    Paarl

I think I will enjoy it more once I get back into the swing of things. Was too nervous and on the brakes too much (which resulted in a couple of falls), and my fitness currently is atrocious, which had me during my 3rd run having my asthma kick in a bit. Otherwise it was good

How newbie friendly is the Paarl DH run? Looking at going to the shuttle day this weekend.

I am about to see how the Minaar's work with Mallets. Pedals just arrived, and will be on bike once the old ones actually decide to loosen so I can get them off the bike.
  5. Steerer on the fork was max length when I got it. Will get it clipped later, but she is ride-able now.
  6. Finally got all the pieces together for my bike. Now looking to ride.
  7. Would have to let you know once I have put mine through some abuse.
  8. Thanks
  9. Had a first experience with Trail & Tar in Tokai. Had an issue which they sorted out quickly. Also friendly and helpful. Also helps that they are open 7 days a week.
  10. Where does one get the info on when shuttle days happen at either Paarl or Contermanskloof?
  11. Will think on it. XT's are also tempting and yours in the price range.
  12. Looking at moving my Juicy's off my downhill bike onto another bike and looking at options on what to replace them with. Options at the moment are an older set of 2008 Avid Codes, then a slightly more expensive option of 2011 Codes or 2012 XT brakes. The older codes need a bit of work, but looking at possibly doing a good upgrade and getting something newer.
  13. A longer lever might work, but my BB tool is starting to strip the outside of the BB. So a longer lever will just make it worse. Looking to try get it off without ruining the cup as if it is still ok after removal, I might want to get it back onto the bike, without shelling out for a new one...
  14. Am loosening it clockwise (ie the opposite direction to the tighten arrow on the BB). And a blowtorch and 2m pipe is where I do not want to go. If that is needed then it is going to the LBS..sigh. Just looking if there was a more user friendly way of getting it off.
  15. The BB on my current bike it currently being stubborn in loosening itself. I can loosen the non-drive side, but the drive side does not want to budge at all. Any advice on how to get it off the bike? BB is a Truvativ Howitzer.
  16. Now just waiting for a fork spring before hitting the mountain... Spring now aquired..mountain time
  17. Looking at getting a new wheelset for AM use. Looking at ZTR Flow rims. Are there any others I should consider?
  18. I might be able to huff and puff my way down the mountain on Sunday
  19. I had a chance to weigh the frame before you took it. Was 5kg including the rear axle and shock (if I remember correctly). And yeah, the shock could use an upgrade
  20. Looking at getting a AM/FR fork, and saw that Suntour had a recent-ish addition to its range of the Durolux. It seems to have 1 or 2 good reviews, and is about half the price of its competitors (was originally looking at getting a Rock Shox Lyrik or Marzocchi 66 ATA). Anyone had any experience with these new ones? Or should I bite the bullet and go for one of the others?
  21. Posible to tag along? Need to dust off the legs and bike.
  22. Glad the run went well. Now to go faster
  23. Well then. You can have em. Let me know when suits you and I can look at my timetable.
  24. I have a 185mm rotor and adaptor I am willing to donate to the cause. Both used, but still good.
  25. I really need to see this when finished now. looking great so far.
